Today we are throwing a birthday party for Penelope. The theme is all things dress up, perfect for my little girly girl. If you were on Facebook earlier this week then you saw the picture of her in a Hello Kitty pedicure chair that one of our local nail salons actually possesses….so cool and just too cute for words. She had her first full-on pedicure, one of her birthday gifts, which included a foot/leg massage along with all the other pedi fun. Such a spoiled little girl, oh how we love her! On the down low, I also love having a little spa-day buddy…now just a few more years for Eloise to get there too!
With her party coming up this week, I just had to make her a little party dress. It’s what every girl needs for a dress up party, don’t you think?
I am just in love with ‘Children at Play’ from Sarah Jane Studios, how sweet is that whole line! It was the perfect fabric muse to create Penelope’s birthday party with especially the Playhouse Colorway.
I made Penelope an a-line dress complete with a tuxedo bib and two layers of vintage lace trim. I even found the cutest little flower buttons to coordinate with the sweet Wallpaper Flowers in Pink fabric I used for the tuxedo bib!
When I finished the dress and called her to try it on she was in LOVE! It just melts my heart to see how excited she was to have a pretty little dress that would match her party…man, I love that girl!
And you know how I love Sister Dresses, right!? Well, I had to make a coordinating dress for Eloise, I couldn’t leave my sweet babe out especially after Penelope so adorably said to me, ‘We match?‘ as she is hugging Eloise and smiling so big. She loves when her and her sister dress like ‘twins’ even though they are no where near twins in looks or age, ha!
I used the same fabrics from Sarah Jane’s ‘Children at Play’ line to make Eloise a super cute pillowcase dress.
My favorite part is the big bow. Of course it draws major attention and Eloise just cannot stop untying it, such a magnet it is but just perfect on such a small little girl!
I added a large strip of the Wallpaper Flowers in Pink to the bottom of the dress to balance out the bow…don’t you just want to eat up these fabrics, gah they are so cute!
I’ll try to show you a few pictures of the girls wearing their pretty dresses post-party fun. I’m crossing my fingers and toes that I actually remember to take pictures…a task I usually fail at when I’m running the show on my own!
And I know many of you will be asking about Noah so let me tell you now that no, I did not make him a pair of coordinating pants or a shirt (out of this color way anyways, it was just a bit too girly for him!) He will be getting some pants made from Sarah Jane’s adorable boy’s line ‘Over the Fence’ and ‘After School’…if you have boys you need to get yourself some of these fabrics asap…they are just perfect for any age boy in my opinion!!
