1 24 oz jar spaghetti sauce (I LOVE Newman's Own Sockarooni for this...it has lots of peppers and spice in it which is just perfect for meatball subs!)
6 hoagie rolls
1 package slice provolone cheese
For the meatballs...make ahead, cook and freeze so they are ready to go! (or you can use the pre-cooked frozen kind!!)
2 lbs ground beef
1 egg
1 onion grated or finely chopped
1 tsp salt
Instructions
To make the meatballs:
Mix ground beef, egg, onion, and salt together.
Roll into tablespoon sized balls, place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for about an hour or until they are cooked through and not pink in the center!
Then, place meatballs in a medium sized saucepan and pour the spaghetti sauce on top of the meatballs.
Warm on a medium-high flame until the sauce is nice and bubbly and your meatballs warmed through.
While your sauce and meatballs are heating through, go ahead and split open your hoagie rolls and turn your oven on to 250 degrees.
Place the rolls, open side up, onto a cookie sheet.
Add 2 slices of provolone cheese to each and toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes.
