As much as our family is always on the go, go, go, we also like to take it nice and slow every so often and just be in our home, just the 6 of us…and our dog, lol, so make that 7! Family time is super important to us because it allows us to spend some time with our children without devices, phone calls, and text messages so we try really hard to make it a point to do something together as a family at least once a week. In the winter we love family movie nights (especially with all the holiday movies!) but after a while we need to stretch our minds and Family Game Night is always welcomed with open arms by all!
We love all the old school favorites like Monopoly, Uno, Sorry!, checkers, and chess, I mean how can you beat such timeless games, am I right? But lately, every year at Christmas my youngest sister has been sending us new family games like Blokus (first pictures in post). I love learning new games with my kids. Instead of my husband and I teaching them how to play, we learn together! Yep, even moms and dads make mistakes when reading directions, right?!
I also love the idea that these newer games will have the nostalgia that Monopoly and Uno have for my husband and I. Games make great childhood memories and associating them with fun family time will hopefully evoke even more warm and fuzzy feelings as they grow up and have their own children. 🙂 One part of family time, whether it is Family Game Night, Movie Night, or Karaoke Night is that we always do a fun dinner. Sometimes it’s appetizers and finger foods, other times it’s dessert for dinner, but many, many, many times it’s pizza! Pizza is always a winner in our family 🙂 We love the ease of having RED BARON® Classic Crust pizza as it’s the happy medium of being not too thick, not too thin, and has just the right crunch for all of us. It’s a timeless pizza that’s a favorite for family pizza night…no matter when you grew up! My kids love the pepperoni or the sausage and Clif and I like the veggies on the supreme! Once the pizza is ready we set up our game and then eat, and play, and eat, and play. With a whole bunch of laughing and joking…and a small amount of telling the littlest child he is playing wrong and needs to wait his turn! Eventually we just let him do his own thing and play around him, ha! At least he is cute eating all the pepperoni off the pizza! If you’d like to learn more about Red Baron pizza you can visit them on their website. Now for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card, tell me in the comments below, how do you spend your special family night?
Thanks for stopping by today! Love, Maggie
