We are about 2 weeks into our Summer Break and we couldn’t be having more fun! On the last day of school we sat down on our porch and the kids brainstormed our 2016 Summer Bucket List. They came up with the idea and I wrote them on a huge piece of poster board with my big ‘ol bucket of colorful sharpie markers. I’m so proud of all the fun ideas they came up with especially because they thought of fun things like going to the farmer’s market, taking a nature hike, and sending happy mail to their friends and family…how cool is that!!!
Can I tell you a little secret?
I bought a bunch of workbooks for the kids during the last week of school and my plan has been (and so far has been working well!) that each child works on 2-3 pages of both a math and reading workbook as well as reads for 20 minutes each day (see: Summer Reading Program through our library that they added to our Summer Bucket List!!) before the day gets started and the neighborhood kids are ringing the doorbell to play or we are out the door on an adventure.
It has been a huge motivator behind our summer bucket list!!! They wake up and figure out (based off of the weather) what they would like to check off on the 2016 Summer Bucket List for the day and then they start working on those workbooks…yippee!!!
So far we have checked off a good one thing a day. Not too shabby!
We’ve done the pool and the beach thanks to some super warm summer days!
And thanks to buying my bimonthly canisters of WET ONES® HAND WIPES AT WALMART I am ready to clean up dirty little hands and faces at a moments notice!
I always have them with me during our summer adventures. The canisters live in my car and my beach bag all summer long.
