It’s now the Fifth of July so I must ask…did you make your Sopapilla cheesecake yesterday? 🙂
I thought I would throw it out there that it’s also darn good with strawberries. Some of you had even mentioned that in the comments and yes, it’s true! I thought today strawberries deserved a shout out for the awesomeness that they add to the dessert, and let’s face it, so many desserts…so let’s hear it for Fresh Strawberries! I’m feeling just a little Jimmy Fallon writing a Thank You Note. If you don’t know what I’m talking about then go here to get a good laugh!
So this weekend we strapped our 3 little cuties in to the car and hit up a strawberry patch. If you’ve never done a strawberry patch before I highly recommend it, it’s hours of fun and makes for full and happy little bellies for the ride home.
Although this is nearing the end of strawberry season, we still were able to find loads of these pretty little red gems ripe for the picking.
10 lbs to be exact!
The kids were so excited when one of the owners of the patch told them to go ahead and enjoy as many as they wanted!
Noah’s picking song he made up on the fly and sang the whole time we were there was “Pick one, Eat one…Pick one, Eat one!”
He gave all the other people who happened to be picking with us quite the laugh.
It’s funny when you pick strawberries with kids they always seem to pick the eensy weensy berries for their basket….or maybe this is just my kids? We had to keep telling them, ‘We want the BIG ones in the baskets!!‘ …they took this to mean that all the little ones get to go in their mouths, ha!
We have such good worker bees…I’m starting to re-think the age we need to teach them to mow our grass.
Penelope worked hard next to her daddy to fill her little white basket…
While Noah worked busily at feeding Eloise her first strawberries!
She loved eating them, can you tell!
And eating them…
In fact she cleared out her little basket in minutes!
Noah and Penny love being the big siblings and taking care of their baby sister. They thought it was their duty to help Ellie find more berries for her little basket. Doesn’t she look like she’s on a mission to find more goodies!
I happened to dress Eloise in the Baby Sunsuit from Rae that I made last week, it’s such an adorable pattern I can’t believe I waited this long to make one! I added more rows of shirring then called for and changed out the leg openings for this particular one, isn’t it just so cute! I used Sherbert Pips Puppy Dog Tails in Light Blue. In hindsight, it was probably not a good idea to dress her in it for strawberry picking, I mean look at this girl!!
She is definitely one of my children! She even has strawberry juice on her little bum. I almost had a heart attack but then thought, what’s the point of making clothes for your children if you don’t want them to actually wear them, right?
All in all we had a great time. Up next will be our adventures in blueberry picking, we always go overboard with those! Over here they should be ripe in another couple of weeks…wooooooot!
**Update** The sunsuit was saved! I rubbed a bunch of that shout gel on every last spot, let it sit for an hour and threw it in with the rest of the wash and it came out looking brand new!! Hooray 🙂
XOXO,

My mom tells a story of one Easter when I was a toddler. I was wearing my Easter best, one of my mom’s lavender polyester creations. Hey, it was the seventies 😉 While under the ‘watchful’ eye of my dad, I ended up in a lovely mud puddle out in the yard. He claims he was watching me. He watched me walk right over and sit in the mud puddle 🙂
My sister’s and I tease my dad and mom about it every once and a while at family outings. Between the mud puddle and the lavender, did I mention it was plaid too, outfit, there are lots of good memories to be had. Sew away, your kids will remember all their special outfits you sew them. I sure remember all my mom’s 🙂
And your right, if they can’t wear them, what good is it to make your kids clothing. I feel the same way about the quilts I make people. I want them to be cuddled and dragged about making lots of fond memories along the way.
Watch out for those mud puddles 😉

Cute and Fun! The closest strawberry patch area I know of is 1.5 hours away, but next year during their annual Strawberry festival – I think we’ll head up their and enjoy! Would love to find a blueberry patch soon too!
Yeah, kids clothes can get messy! But look at how much fun she had getting it messy! I always throw the clothes in the washer and wash everything in cold and mostly everything always comes out!

so cute! over here the strawberry farms just opened up for picking, I think we’ll go sometime this week. I love the picture of Eloise just walking along, I know I have one of those Crazy Babies myself but it’s still startling to see.
Olivia had her first strawberry the other week, she darted right over to Nicole, who had sat herself down in the shade with a huge container of strawberries, grabbed the biggest, ripest berry right out of Nicoles hand, and shoved it in her mouth! I figured she’d earned it. Afterwards I had the same sort of ‘oops’ moment, a brand new baby-blue romper that was so sweet and cute and it came out of the wash stained! However, I never consider that the end of the story, since everything is line dried I can always try, try again. It’s soaking in an Oxiclean bath right now! lol!

weve picked 60lbs of blueberries so far. I hope to get 100 but I always set lofty goals. I love the girls outfits and agree….. let them LIVE in them! We ended up using alot of Zout after the trips to the blueberry fields too!!!

How sweet they are to their little sister 🙂 I love it!
We enjoy berry picking very much in our family as well, we have never gone strawberry picking though :headscratch:

I do love this article. The photos (evidences ! I may tell) are so sweet and show how happy your children are. Enjoy the summer. Emilie.

Maggie your children are the cutest!! Love these pictures, especially the one of Noah feeding Ellie.
I also love that Penny’s wearing a strawberry jumper. 🙂 The sunsuit turned out so cute!! Shirring and I have broken up for a while. ha. I’m glad the strawberries came out. I’m super wary of watermelon stains b/c they’re hard to get out with the first wash. Of course you’re right though, what’s the point of cute clothes your kids can’t wear?!
I haven’t made the sopapilla yet b/c I haven’t been to the store to pick up the ingredients and made the hugest batch of fruit salad yesterday. 🙂 Gotta spread the sweets out a few days (or at least try to ha).

those adorable little baby cheeks covered in strawberries but at least all that strawberry juice washed out.

Strawberry picking looks like it was a lot of fun! Wow, her first strawberries ever!? Is there an age we’re not supposed to give them to a baby before? I cant remember?
Love your son’s shirt. Where’s it from?
