Blood Orange Margaritas

| Filed Under: Beverages, Holiday, Party Food, Recipes

Try these Blood Orange Margaritas for a refreshingly delightful twist on a classic margarita! The sweet yet tart flavor of blood oranges make this margarita perfect for any occasion!Blood Orange Margaritas

I was at Trader Joe’s a few weeks ago and was delighted to see they had blood oranges on sale! I always enjoy these sweet yet slightly tart oranges…sweet like a navel orange but tart kinda like a raspberry…is how I’d best describe their flavor if you made me. 🙂 So I bought a few bags and would be lying if I told you that I didn’t concoct a fun cocktail to enjoy with some friends in our screened in porch..it’s getting to the end of the school year, we mommas need some lovin’! These margaritas went over very well…and the cool-looking deep red color definitely adds to the fun of drinking them!

Blood Orange MargaritasI love a good margarita but am a no salt on the rim kinda girl which totally works for these margs because of the sweet and slightly tart nature of the blood oranges. I take a slice of blood orange and rub it along the outer rim of the glass and then dip the rims into a plate of evaporated cane sugar although you could use any type of sugar you like. The combo of the sugar on the rim and the margarita itself is delish! (Affiliate links present)Blood Orange MargaritasHere are some things that are not needed but are nice to have on hand to make these Blood Orange Margaritas.

  •  lemon juice squeezer like this one to juice the blood oranges and limes
  •  cocktail shaker full of ice so that the margaritas are nice and chilled. I like to squeeze the blood oranges and lime directly into the shaker!

You can obviously make do without these items but I think it makes the process of making them waaaay more fun!Blood Orange Margaritas
