DIY Bug Repellant Spray

DIY Bug Repellant // SmashedPeasandCarrots.com

I am so pumped to share this DIY Bug Repellant Spray with you today because you just don't understand how many natural and less toxic bug sprays our family has gone through over the years to come and find out that so many of them do not really work all that well. Eloise is super allergic to mosquito bites and she swells up like crazy when she gets bit. So badly that one … [Read more...]

A Few of My Favorite Spring Time Looks PLUS a J.Jill Gift Card Giveaway!

J.Jill Comfy Outfits

As a momma to 4 little ones I am always on the look out for comfy yet stylish clothing that allows me to feel put together when most of my days are anything but that. Trust me, I know firsthand how easy it is to fall into the trap of yoga pants and stretched out t-shirts when you have small children who love to wipe their hands and noses on your clothes over and over…and … [Read more...]

My Life in Instagram Pics

Floral Straws and Date Stamp!

I know some of you follow me on Instagram (and if you don't, you can follow me here: @smashedpeasandcarrots) but for those of you who do not I thought I would share some of the pictures I have shared over there since the IG format seems to make it is so much easier to share "Day in the Life" type pics then it is in the blog format. I know, I know, how many social media … [Read more...]

Threads by The Shine Project

So I have to ask...have you heard of the Shine Project? If not, let me fill you in...it was started by a pretty amazing woman, Ashley, and the idea behind it is to inspire people to go out of their comfort zone and reach their goals.  Last year The Shine Project started a non-profit called The Shine Scholarship Project.  They raise money to send at risk youth to college. … [Read more...]

Farmers Market Fun

As many of you heard on the Smashed Peas and Carrots Facebook page earlier this week, we were able to visit one of our favorite Farmers Markets for the first official market of the season.   We were so excited.  The kids even made a list of things they wanted to buy which included honey (specifically honeycomb), butterkase cheese, and a bag of kettle corn popcorn, lol, … [Read more...]

Choose Joy

I'm sure many of you have heard of the lovely Ashley of Little Blue Boo and her battle with cancer, if not you can read all about her courageous fight here in her Cancer Chronicles series.  I love Ashley, she is an amazing and strong woman and I pray for her every day.  Her story has struck me to the core as she is my age and is also a momma to a little girl my Noah's age … [Read more...]

A Weekend Away

Ever since baby #4 wonderfully came into our life my husband and I started talking more and more about doing some weekend aways.  Yup, minus children...just the two of us.  We've never done that EVER in the last 5 years since we've been on the baby-making path...can you believe it?!  I think it has always had to do with not really having any close family around, … [Read more...]

For the New Babe…

So I went and bought the new babe something a little bit ago, I had to, it was like there was this magnetic force pulling me towards my computer and Amazon.com.     I bought one of these sweet Sophie the Giraffe teethers, well actually two as I figured any toy/baby product that I adore and therefore my little babe loves usually ends up lost, left behind, or eaten by our … [Read more...]

A Box Full of Pretties

My momma loves to send out boxes of goodies for me and the kids every month or so.  We absolutely love getting them...but c'mon who doesn't love getting packages in the mail!  Last month she sent out a Valentine's themed box with all sorts of V-day fun inside but what I loved most about it was that she included a few knits that my Grandma (my Dad's momma) ever so carefully … [Read more...]

A Few of My Favorite Things {Book Edition}

Since giving you the *grand* tour of my sewing cabinets here and here, many of you have inquired as to which sewing/craft books I had tucked away on the tippy-top shelves.  Isn't it fun to see what other's have in their personal stash of craft-y geekiness?  I think so!  I really enjoy these kind of posts on other blogs so I figured why not.  You know I'm the kinda girl who … [Read more...]

I Love the Mailman

Yesterday I opened up my mailbox and you know what was inside?   These lovelies: A whole pretty stack of fabric! {The Circa 50 Collection by Monaluna for Birch Fabrics} I have been drooling over these fabrics since I first laid my eyes on them, aren't they just Yummy with a capital 'Y'?  They are as bold and colorful as I had imagined they'd be! Sewing Binge and Labels

This weekend I went on a sewing binge.  I made myself a simple elastic waist band skirt not unlike the skirt portion ofthis dress.  Unfortunately, the dress does not make nursing my babe the easiest of tasks so a skirt is more up my alley these days.   I also decided to sew Penelope a few peasant style dresses as I absolutely dig the cute little sleeves and the fact that … [Read more...]

Vintage Lovelies

After reading Cheryl's post here, I got the thrifting bug BAD.  How jealous am I of her ginormous vintage finds!!  So, yesterday I had the pleasure of taking little babe out with me and doing a little thrifting, just the two of us.  I thought just taking Eloise would be a breeze since when she is in her car seat she just falls asleep.  Without the other two crazies the … [Read more...]
