Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Read Aloud and Movie Party

| Filed Under: Fall, Life with Kids, Parties, Thanksgiving, Tutorials

Last week my littles had an early release from school and what better way to celebrate it with than another story read aloud and movie party! This time around we did ‘A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving’ as this book and the movie are so fitting to this time of year!

Eloise helped me set the table while patiently waiting for her big brother and sister to get home from school…and Oliver to wake up from his nap!

I found this vintage paperback Thanksgiving Charlie Brown a few years ago at a local used book shop, I was so happy to have found it as I just love these oldie but goodie type books. It is the perfect size to use as a “read to the class” kinda book or so Penny has told me! She loves to pretend she is the teacher to her little class consisting of Ellie and Oliver, ha! Our party menu consisted of an as-close-to-possible replica of what Charlie Brown, Linus, and Snoopy served at their “first” Thanksgiving meal with their friends, minus that rad looking ice cream sundae of course (hey, it was only 2:45 in the afternoon!) We had buttered toast… Pretzels and Jellybeans (ours were of the Belly Flop variety cause they are just too fun to pass up when you don’t live too far from a Jelly Belly Factory!)

I also handed out cups of popcorn for when we watched the movie and made a little Mayflower sail out of paper straws with some index cards.

And I made the kids little party favor bags decorated like Charlie Brown’s yellow shirt and filled with Peppermint Patties…just a few, I didn’t want to spoil their dinner but it’s always nice to have a little treat while you watch a movie!
We also did a pilgrim hat craft using a paper cup and scrapbook paper…this is such a fun an easy activity to do with kids! And of course you can wear it too, haha. This week is a short school week for my littles and we are going to be busy cooking and baking for our Thanksgiving feast, I am so excited! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by good food and friends!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Love,

Maggie
