I just love looking through Pottery Barn catalogs, don’t you? They have such pretty stuff and their rooms are always so beautifully decorated…just a wee bit jealous I am, but hey, I bet they don’t have two littles running around their houses (er, studios) spilling dry cereal and stepping in it, spitting out juice all over the carpet and letting the dog run all around the house with muddy paws...Ok, one day my house will be decorated just like that, right!?!
For now, I will just have to browse through their catalog for inspiration. What I have been really loving lately are their decorative balls. You know, the ones that just sit in a little bowl or tray and do nothing else but look pretty. Yeah, I really love those…and then I got to thinking that maybe I could just do it myself. So here is my version of those lovely little decorative balls and the best part is that you can make them for a fraction of their cost at PB! Check it out, a few dollars and a little bit of time can get you this:
Aren’t these just great!?! Looking pretty is about all they are for but man, I love ’em!
Ok, so this is what you need:
Decorative Tissue Paper Balls
Styrofoam craft balls (anysize…I used both little ones and big ones)
Tissue paper (whatever colors work for your home)
Glue (you can use a hot glue gun but I used Beacon Adhesive Fabri-Tac)
Scissors or rotary cutter
Plastic cup or glass (to hold your ball while you work!)
Here are your partners in crime for this project.
First, just cut up your tissue paper into 2 x 3 inch pieces.
Keep goin’…
And, then keep adding more…no really, it goes quick! Would I really show you a craft project that wasn’t? That’s right…I feel your “dang, that nap ended waaaay to early” pain!
See, what did I tell you!?! All finished and in no time at all…now just get to makin’ a few more of these pretty babies and then you can…
Take them and put them in a pretty vase like this one and throw it up on your fireplace mantle…ahhh, now I’m feeling some Pottery Barn love in my home (and for cheap too…WooHoo!)
Or, turn them into Christmas decorations by making a red and white candy cane-esque decorative ball to add to a basket (found for $1 at the dollar store!)
So pretty and so easy
Just how you like it!

Brilliant!!! Amazing!!! Today, you are my hero! Seriously, I have mounds of tissue paper left over from my party this weekend just wasting away. Now I have something wonderful to recycle them into. Thanks and great job! Miki
