Dinner Tonight? How About a Pizza Roll?

| Filed Under: Main Course, Recipes

For dinner last night I made a pizza roll! This is another meal we just love around our house. It is so yummy and simple to make and since it’s basically a pizza all rolled up the kiddies just gobble it up! Who doesn’t like pizza?! You can make your own dough, a great recipe can be found here, from Martha Stewart, of course! Or, I suppose you could just go and buy frozen or refrigerated dough at your local grocery store. Want to make one for dinner tonight? Here is how you do it:
Pizza Roll
Recipe Type: Main Course
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 20 mins
Total time: 30 mins
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients
  • 1 pizza dough recipe of your choice or store bought pizza dough
  • pepperoni, sausage etc.
  • cooked veggies of your choice
  • 1 cup shredded mozzerella
  • 1/2 cup parmesean cheese
  • 1 tbsp italian seasoning
Instructions
  1. Spread your dough out onto a greased cookie sheet.
  2. Once it is nice and flat and stretched out add the meat and veggies of your choice.
  3. Then, sprinkle both cheeses on top.
  4. Lastly, sprinkle the italian seasoning on.
  5. Take one short end of the pizza and roll tightly.
  6. Once it is all rolled up, pinch in the ends so nothing falls out while baking.
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

The dough all rolled out with pepperoni on top. You could also add some tomato sauce as the first layer but I find that it is super messy to roll it up with it on there!

Now, sprinkle on both cheeses and then the italian seasoning. If you look closely or click on the picture you can see that I added slices of swiss cheese too…just cause it’s super yummy!

Then, you just roll it up starting from one short end to the other. Once it’s all rolled up, just pinch the ends together so nothing comes out!

Bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Look at how good this looks!

And that’s it…eat until your tummy is full…soooooo good!

This was absolutely delicious!! There’s an Italian restaurant near us that makes calzones that my hubby absolutely loves! No other calzone comes close! But when I made this, and asked him what he thought, he says (through a mouthful) “Wow. This is even better than [their] calzones!” Ultimate praise!! Thank you for sharing!!
