Double Delicious Cookbook Give Away!! (and some rambling)

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here, we cut down our Christmas tree for the first time ever this past weekend.  I grew up having an artificial tree during the holidays so I was really excited to go out to a Christmas tree farm and search for that one perfect tree.  As much as I hem and haw about the environmental aspects of doing this I just wanted to do it just this once.  
It was a fun time.   Hmmm, where do I begin?  Let’s see, first, horse drawn carriage rides seem fun and Christmas-y until you have three little ones trudging through a tree farm laden with horsey poo land mines, luckily no one stepped in one!  Hmmm, what else?  How about having a two year old insist on not walking anymore while you are trying your hardest to push your click-and-go stroller through said tree farm while your husband is watching your older child AAAND trying to cut down your tree (mental note: next time bring the jogging stroller!!)  And, to make it even more fun how about having your 4-month old poo all over her onesie and not having a change of clothing for her?  We won’t even mention that my 4-month old was actually IN a onesie and a pair of legwarmers and nothing else even though it was fuh-reezing outside (anyone else’s husband dress their child like this?  Husband, we do own such things as baby pants, socks, jackets, coats and snowsuits in size 3-6 months!)  Anyways, if you think that this would be fun than you should definitely come Christmas tree shopping with us next year 🙂  Naw, really all in all it wasn’t too bad, these things are to be expected if you have children…right?  Funny memories to last us a lifetime that’s for sure!!
Alright, so where was I heading with this…oh, yeah.  So, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas and because this time of year always puts me in such a cheery and festive mood I’m feeling like giving away a little something, something from me to one of you.   Because I truly appreciate you for coming back again and again to read my blog.  Because of all the sweet comments and emails you write to me.  And heck,  just because you are such lovely folk!

That’s right, I’m giving away a copy of Jessica Seinfeld’s new cookbook, Double Delicious!!

Ummm, and it truly is Double Delicious.  
It’s a continuation of her first cookbook in that she still adds purées to her foods but in this book she also focuses on food for the whole family.  That means, some of the recipes are a bit more grown up, not just kid’s foods.  

And, it’s already a New York Times bestseller!!

We could all use recipes with more fruits and veggies and whole grains, right?  
This cookbook even has a calorie count at the bottom of every recipe (for those of us that like that sort of thing!)

This is one of my favorite recipes from the book, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies…YUM!
(secret ingredient:  Pumpkin!)

But, then these muffins are pretty tasty too (and those cinnamon rolls!!)
Yeah, I guess I’m a bit partial to the sweets…can you blame me.

      My parents and I have a Christmas tree farm here in Georgia…I’m curious about the “environmental” problems you mention that they create? We–along with every other tree farm in GA–rarely use chemicals/fertilizers, we practice sustainable agriculture, and we took something that was just pasture and added 1,200 trees that produce oxygen and clean the air. They get replanted every January. From the way I look at it, Christmas tree farming IS good for the environment. Do you feel differently?
      Favorite cookie? Chocolate chunk.

      My favorite cookies are snicker doodles, or what I really love is banket – it’s a Dutch pastry (almond paste rolled up in a light flaky dough) Yum!

      My favorite cookie (year round) is a “Ranger” cookie. Don’t know why they are called that, but they are D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!! And very healthy with lots of whole grains in them. =)

      My favorite Christmas cookie is just a plain old chocolate chip cookie, but I add chickpeas to mine – and I use the choc chip cookie recipe from Jessica’s first cookbook. I love that book!

      I love your blog. I have been following it thru Google Reader for the last month and always look forward to new postings! My favorite Christmas cookie is shortbread with a Toblerone piece on the inside. Have not been able to find a recipie but these are amazing when taken right out of the freezer! I adore Jessica Seinfeld and have her first cookbook.

      My favorite cookie is on the back of Reese Peanut butter cups…You make peanut butter cookies and put the mini pb cups in them after they ahve cooked…Delish!

      my favorite christmas cookie right now (it may change tomorrow) is a yummy sugar cookie with homemade frosting. mmmmmm.

      Well I like things classic so I would say my favorite Christmas cookie is a sugar cookie. This year however I have developed a new recipe for SMORE cookies and they are delish!

      My favorite Christmas cookie is one from my grandma that she called a brown sugar crinkle. It’s basically a soft ginger snap. They are so good and always help usher in the holidays for me.

      OOooo, I’ve been eyeing this book! One of my fav’s during the holidays are those cookie balls rolled with nuts, rolled in powdered sugar…so pretty and delicous!

      My favorite Christmas cookie are homeamade ginger snaps- okay they are my favorite all year round- but they have to be homeade and just the right chewy and cruchy:)

      Love Shortbread (from a box…I am the only baker in the family) with coloured sugar sprinkled on top!
      Cake mix cookies are a close second…tied with molasses crinkles.

      Darn…now I want cookies.

      My favorite Christmas Cookie isn’t really a cookie – it’s something we call O’Henry Bars. It’s like a rice krispie treat with a layer of milk & semi sweet chocolate mixed on the bottom & a layer of melted milk & butterscotch chips on top. And the krispie in the middle is made with Karo, nuts, sugar, peanut butter – no mallows. They’re pretty yummy!

      Laughing. We got our first real tree this year too. And I LOVE it! We got it at Menards because hubby had work to do and to avoid carting 2 little ones with. I figure we can go to an actual tree place when they are a little older. My baby actually pooped all over her onesie too while we were at the store! She had a sweater and pants on too though LOL.

      Favorite Xmas cookie GINGERBREAD!!!

      Sadly, I’m not much of a baker. But I do like cookies! Chocolate Chips are ALWAYS my fave, in any style…chunky, double chocolate, or thin, soft ones. 🙂

      I don’t have a favorite “Christmas” cookie because I make cookies all the time! My favorite to make on a regular basis is chocolate oatmeal chip cookies…yum!

      wow. i have a friend whom has been using her copy of this cookbook and has told me how amazing the recipes are. i would truly like to win the book. my hubby is a diabetic and we are running out of ideas. this book would solve the need new recipes.

      Snowballs. aka Mexican wedding cookies aka Russian tea cakes. I call them snowballs and I LOVE them! I actually can’t ever get enough and I’ll be making some on Thursday, but don’t quote me on that.

      I am sorry to be so boring.. but my favorite Christmas cookie… is plain sugar cookies.. homemade with NO frosting!!! Although… right now… I am nine months pregnant waiting for this baby to come…. and all of the above sound delish!!! LOL…

      Oh, Christmas cookies! So many from which to choose. I love love love apple oatmeal cookies for taste, but for cuteness, little reindeer cookies made from upside down bell shapes with pretzel antlers and M&M eyes and noses are winners.

      My Mom has a recipe for a cookie that is called LBJ’s Moonrocks. They have dates, coconut, nuts, spices. Almost everything but the kitchen sink!

      My favorite Christmas cookie isn’t exactly a cookie. We like to make rice krispie treats and use our Christmas tree cookie cutter to make Christmas tree treats!

      One of my favorite Christmas cookies are the Spritz cookies my Grandma made & put through the cookie press. Another recent favorite are ones that have Hershey Kisses hidden in the middle.
