Aww yeah! Another round up of some of my littles’ past school bento lunches this month except this time it’s the Halloween edition!! Who’s excited?! Booo yeah <—get what I did there, heheh! Now if you remember my post HERE earlier this month you will be glad to know that October is National Caramel Month! And what better way to facilitate ooey gooey caramel eating than with Caramel Apples…Affy Tapples to be specific (the best kind out there!) So as an ode to National Caramel Month I let my kids choose a few desserts for some of their Halloween Bentos with the lovely array of Affy Tapples varieties out there. They were in heaven to say the least! And PS. moms everywhere can feel good about this kind of dessert as there is an apple under that fine layer of creamy caramel…win/win!
Here is a look at a few of their spooky, ok not really spooky, more like Halloween-y bentos… Lunch 1: Halloween tortilla chips in the shape of bats, pumpkins, and ghosts (bought at World Market) with a container of hummus, raisins, and slices of Affy Tapples with Halloween candy sprinkles (and brushed with lemon juice so they don’t brown!) Lunch 2: Vanilla greek yogurt with candy eyeballs, sliced strawberries with a ghost pick, gluten free baked apple cider donuts (recipe here), and a few slices of an Affy Tapple with party colored chocolate drops. Lunch 3: Container of mandarin oranges in fruit juice (with a jack-o’-lantern face drawn on it with a marker!), slices of the original Affy Tapple with a bat pick, Halloween shaped pasta (bought at World Market), and a container of parmesan cheese. Lunch 4: Red grapes with a leaf pick, tortilla chips shaped like halloween objects, salsa, cheddar cheese cubes with a ghost pick, and slices of Affy Tapple with Halloween candy sprinkles. Lunch 5: Blackberries with a ghost pick, turkey sandwich in the shape of a pumpkin with candy eyeballs, orange jello in a pumpkin cup, and some Affy Tapple Caramel Corn. Lunch 6: Blackberries, almond butter and jelly ghost-shaped sandwiches with candy eyeballs, cheese crackers, and slices of an Affy Tapple with party colored chocolate drops.Lunch 7: Blackberries with a leaf pick, baby carrots with a ghost pick, a small container of hummus, a couple of Applegate hotdogs wrapped in Trader Joe’s crescent rolls to look like mummies, and some Affy Tapple Caramel corn.
Hope you enjoyed these fun Halloween Bento lunches! And just to let you know a little bit about Affy Tapple and the pretty sweet contest they are running this month…

And here are a few fun facts about Affy Tapple:
Affy Tapple has been a Chicagoland staple since the 1940′s! They still use the same small-batch caramel recipe developed in 1948. And Affy Tapple uses milk in its original caramel recipe, ensuring customers get the richest caramel on their Affy Tapples. While the Peanut Apples are the company’s most famous and popular treat, the company also makes apples coated in party-colored chocolate drops, three types of chocolate chips, and festive sprinkles for Halloween.
And just so you can see how awesomely awesome having Affy Man come to your office, school, etc would truly be, check out this totally sweet video I may or may not have a small part in…okay, I may!!!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Love,
Maggie
