Last week 50% of my crew went back to school. This week I’ll add another little one back to the school regimen. Well, it’s just preschool and 3 mornings a week but nonetheless I will have two mornings a week with just my little man….how weird is that? And with a new school year comes new lunch possibilities and more bento lunches! YES!!!! I’ll try my hardest to share my littles’ lunches with you as the weeks go by so you can see how easy it is to create healthy lunches for your littles or yourself! Now, as my older two are now in 1st and 2nd grade they are really into helping decide what to put in their lunches which makes these even easier for me to make, yay! We grocery shop together on the weekends and then the night before we figure our what they are in the mood to eat for lunch the next day. Here are some of the lunches they brought for their first week back at school.
Lunch 1: Penny’s first day of school lunch! Green grapes with two little alphabet picks (‘GO’), Pirate’s Booty, a ham sandwich with alphabet picks (‘PENNY’), and a cupcake liner filled with some graham cracker bunnies.
Lunch 2: Noah’s first day of school lunch! Black grapes with two little alphabet picks (‘HI’), Annie’s organic granola bar with a little dog pick, bacon jerky in a cupcake liner, and a turkey sandwich with alphabet picks (‘STAR’). Lunch 3: Green grapes with a leaf pick, strawberries with a panda pick, crackers, pepperoni with a frog pick.Lunch 4: Green grapes with a panda pick, fresh cut carrots (why do these always taste so much better than baby carrots?), almond butter and jelly sandwich in the shape of a butterfly, spicy cheese cubes in a cupcake liner with a panda pick.
Hope these inspire you to create a few healthy lunches!!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Love,
Maggie

What do you do with the leftover scraps and edges of sandwiches?

I agree about the cut up carrots- baby carrots definitely have a weird taste. Check your supermarket for “Sweet Petites” carrots. They are a thinner version of baby carrots and taste just like cut-up carrots. So yummy and so easy, I was super excited when I discovered them.

Hi, I love your bento lunch ideas!!! Was wondering which container you like best? I’m having a hard time finding one that will fit inside the PBK classic lunch bag. I’m also wondering if these containers can be stored sideways in a lunch bag or backpack without leaking? Thank you!

We love Easy Lunchboxes and the (super hard to find now) Ziploz bento containers, they fit in most standard lunch boxes…not sure what the PBK one looks like!
