Simple Simon met a pie man going to the fair.
Okay, so that makes this seem like a post for a pie recipe…it’s not, really, I swear.
This is actually a post for a reeeaaa-lly easy and super simple recipe for pizza sauce! Yuppers, you can actually make your own and it’s not even hard! There is no stove involved…just a bowl, a spoon and very little muscle action needed from your arm…can I get a Woot Woot!
When we make pizza I tend to make my own crust 50% of the time, it just depends on how on the ball I was about meal planning that particular day. But the sauce, the sauce I almost always (like 98%) of the time make from scratch. It’s really ridiculously easy.
Okay, so I’ll show you just how easy it is. If you have never made your own you may actually start laughing when you find out how easy it really is. Have I said ‘easy’ enough yet? 🙂
Easy Pizza Sauce
Recipe Type: Main Course
Prep time:
Total time:
Ingredients
- Homemade Pizza Sauce
- 1 15 oz can of tomato sauce
- 1 6 oz can of tomato paste
- 2 tsp basil
- 2 tsp oregano
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
Instructions
- Mix all the above ingredients in a medium size bowl.
- Spread on your pizza dough.
Ummm, I told you it was easy…
Want a picture step-by-step anyways?
Okay! Thanks for indulging me!!
Grab your cans of tomato sauce and paste…
Mix in 2 tsp of oregano and basil.
Sometimes I just use 2 tsp of basil…it just depends on my mood…or what I have on hand in my kitchen.
🙂
Then add 1/2 tsp of white sugar…
and a 1/2 tsp of onion powder…
Then, add your garlic cloves.
Wanna know a little secret? I use this leee-tle jar of minced garlic a lot when a recipe calls for garlic cloves. Wanna know why? Cause when you have 3 little kids running around your feet while your making dinner sometimes cutting out a step or two is just the way to go.
Go ahead and try it…I won’t tell!
If you read the label, you’ll see that 1 tbsp of this garlic-in-a-jar actually equals 2 cloves of garlic…SCORE!!!!
Just what we needed, no crazy mathematical equations involved!
Now, go ahead and just mix up all that goodness.
Ta Da!!!
Lovely, homemade pizza sauce!!!
And, NO stove required!!
That means even the kids can help 🙂
{Take that canned pizza sauce!!}
Then, your kidlets can spread it all over your pizza dough…
And add their favorite toppings…
And then you can all enjoy a nice and delicious slice of (New York style) pizza for dinner!!
Sorry Chi-town…me likey the thin and floppy crust best!!
What about you?
Happy Weekend!

NICE! I have often just used pasta sauce or something but it’s just not the same flavour (and sometimes it borders on being just gross by accident)
Want to bump that 50% up to 100%? I have a recipe for yeastless pizza dough, super quick and easy and makes a great thincrust pizza. My family prefers thin crust so I just use it by default 90% of the time actually!

It is of course a photograph from a church recipe book cos I was in too much of a rush to type that out ages ago… considering it’s always in my top searched posts I really should fix that, hahaha.

I wanted to let you know I made this tonight. It was super yummy! It made enough for two pizzas for me so hopefully it keeps for a few in the fridge. Gotta love easy recipes like this on a Tuesday night. Thanks for sharing!

How would this taste on spagetti?
Maggie says
Hmmm, I have never tried it as spaghetti sauce…it might be pretty good…just a bit thicker than how I normally eat mine perhaps.

Wish I would have found this a week earlier. Last week I sent my husband out just for pizza sauce. Now I’ll just make it!

I usually make pizza sauce too, but with a little different recipe. We actually like it a little better if I do cook it for about 3-5 minutes on the stove (but you mix it up right in the pan, so there’s not an extra dish), but I love the addition of tomato paste! That would give it great texture. Going to try that soon!

Hey, do you ever par-bake your crust before putting the sauce and toppings on? That’s a little step I do and personally, I think it makes all the difference for homemade pizza.
btw, your sauce recipe looks amazing. Can’t wait to try it!

When I was a child I used to place garlic/herb or garlic/mushroom spaghetti sauce and cheese on slices of bread and cook them in the broiler (gas stove) for about 5-10 minutes. That was before I learned how to cook proper. It’s good!

Amazing! We loved it! We’ve all decided to make this a regular basis!

We’ve made this over and over. It’s still my favorite. I especially love that I don’t have to heat it and the flavors are still so well distributed.
Yep. Awesome.
