We are in the midst of fall right now, and that means weeks of cool weather in the 60’s and 70’s followed by random stretches of a day or two here and there where the weather will dip into the very chilly 30’s and 40’s. I guess that’s nature’s way of getting us ready for the cold, negative numbers we are about to become very familiar with, when winter arrives for what seems like half the year here in the midwest.
It seems that the last few years around this time, my scalp starts to get itchy, and *gasp* I might even admit to seeing a bit of dandruff at the beginning of the cold weather and dry, dry air that comes with it. With my dark hair, that is definitely no good. For the last few years, one part of my ‘beauty’ routine that definitely changes when colder weather hits is to switch out my shampoo. Do you do this too? I always try to switch over to a more moisturizing shampoo when the dry air enters the picture, so I was excited when Head & Shoulders sent me their new Eucalyptus Itchy Scalp Care shampoo and conditioner to try out, as my head is definitely a candidate for using it this time of year.
The Head & Shoulders Itchy Scalp Line promises to ease three scalp and dandruff problems:
1. Dryness
2. Itchiness
3. Sensitivity
They use a Hydra zinc formula to alleviate these conditions so your hair is beautifully flake free, just what I need! Now, I’ve been using this line for the past few weeks and I have to tell you I really like it. First off, it smells great! It has a really fresh, clean smell, not a boring dandruff shampoo type of smell. I don’t know about you, but I really like my shampoos to smell good. It’s just one of those things I think a shampoo should have, a good smell. Head & Shoulders uses naturally inspired fragrances like almond oil, eucalyptus, and aloe vera in this line which in my book smell great alone and together!
I thought the shampoo worked really well. After every use it left my hair shiny and soft which I don’t always feel when I have used medicated or dandruff shampoos in the past. Of course the best thing about this shampoo is that my scalp has been itch-free, and I haven’t seen one speck of dandruff, wahooo! I love a product that does what it claims to do, don’t you?

XOXO,
I change my routine by changing shampoo and conditioner to something that controls frizz and static. I get super frizzy hair in the summer, and super staticy (if that is a word) hair in the winter.
Thanks 🙂
I change my beautry routine in the winter by adding a leave in conditioner when I blow dry my hair in the morning.
I blogged about this giveaaway
http://iheart-motherhood.blogspot.com/
I change my routine by using a lot more lotion! I rarely use it in the summer…
I get very dry skin only in the winter (and only since having my second child) so I use a lot more lotion in the winter.

Living in Colorado…we stock up on lotion!! Dry skin is a way of life around here!!
Rhonda Smith
Lots and lots of lotion, and I make sure it’s stocked everywhere (car, diaper bag, bathrooms,) so that it’s always on hand no matter where we are. We also started putting on chapstick before we go to bed to help with chapped lips.
I switch over from lotions to creams for the winter. Thank you for the giveaway!

Thanks for the giveaway.

I use more moisturizer like Neutrogena with sunscreen. I also like a conditioner with natural oils like coconut.
My hair tends to get much more frizzier and drier so I don’t blowdry all the way now.
I actually don’t do anything different. My hair is frizzy all year round. There hasn’t been a single product I’ve yet to find that tames my hair. And everyone who has ever worked on my hair is completely baffled.
It seems my whole body reacts to the change in weather. Winter routine is to add body oil to my after shower, definitely Head & Shoulders on occasion, lotion morning and night, more attention to my nail cuticles, mainly oil to the cuticles to keep them from tearing.. and last but not least over night lotion or oil glove/sock treatments for feet and hands. I have the worst skin in the winter.. It cracks if I don’t take special care. Sometimes I think I am allergic to winter.. 🙁 Oh and oil treatments for my hair.. it frizzes and breaks because it gets so dry.. and did I mention the problem lips.. I could go on but this is just a blog comment. Thanks for the giveaway.. I could use the money for the extra supplies I have to use in Winter. 🙂
I don’t really change my routine – unless I notice something out of the ordinary!
More lotion! And thanks for the giveaway and review. This looks like something I need to try on my husband!

I use lots of lotion and only shampoo my hair three times a week – it helps it to not dry out.
I use more lotion and moisturizing shampoo and conditioner!
I switch to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and I use a serum on my face at night. The serum has made a huge difference and because it is at night I don’t have to worry about it being greasy.
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com
lots of stuff hair I use Root booster to tame static, more lotion for extra dry skin, Burts Bees for my lips, heel creme I have very dry feet, and bundle up dont leave skin exposed!!

I use A LOT more lotion and A LOT more moisturizing chapstick!
prettyeyes_416@yahoo.com
I use a lot more moisturizer on my face and body and tons of vaseline on my lips!
I use more conditioner and a lot more lotion!!
More lotion & more hairspay. Always have more dry skin & fly away hair in winter
In the colder months I definitely use alot more lotion. I also use my Satin Hands set daily.
I put lotion on my hands and especially cuticles every night – a really thick cream like Eucerin.
I take a bath once a week with olive oil and peppermint oil added to the water. Helps perk me up and moisturizes my hair and skin at the same time. Plus I make sure to use Head and Shoulders every time I shower because my scalp freaks when the weather changes!
I have the craziest winter skin & hair! I must use extra lotion and hairspray. I’m scaly & wild haired otherwise!
Since I have fair, dry skin, this may be a product I would love to try. Please enter me.
Definitely bulking up on the moisturizers. Everything needs more of it, hands, hair, skin. Also, we add lip care (especially for my fair skinned little girl whose lips would otherwise split).
For cracked skin around my fingertips and nails I use “New Skin”. Makes it feel so much better. In the winter I sleep with big cozy socks on. When I get out of the shower at night I slather heavy cream like Lubriderm on, paying particular attention to my heels, then put on the cozy socks. By springtime you have the softest, prettiest feet, just in time for your favorite sandals!
I wash my hair less often, haha, i know that sounds gross. but i actually like my hair more in the winter, it has more volume!
I drink lots more water and use a lot more moisturizer and lip balm! And I do have to change shampoos – this one looks great! Bet it feels real good.
I used to switch my shampoo but now I just switch my husband’s (to head and shoulders, no less). ha. I do switch lotions though. 🙂
I sue a leave in conditioner and I use moisturizer for my face and hands a lot more.
I use more lotion for the cracked skin on my hands and medicated lip balm for chapped lips. I don’t like the cold season!
We buy cetaphil in a huge jar, in the summer we just use olive oil. I only was my hair 2 times a week, unless it needs it more and the girls get a bath once a week unless needed we also give put in ground oatmeal if their skin is really dry. Summer I could shower and wash everyday and that still doesn’t seem to be enough with the humidity. A separate facial night cream, normally I would just use a regular daily moisturizer but a night cream feels wonderful in the winter
i use hairspray in the winter to keep my hair from getting static-y
karinaroselee at gmail dot com
The only thing I change is to use a warming foot lotion before curling by the fire.
I have to use a lot more lotion & conditioner in winter. My favorite lotion is called “No-Crack Cream” & it is so awesome!
I like to make a sugar scrub and use in the shower. 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup olive oil and a few drops of essential oil. A great exfoliater!!
I have to use more lotion when it gets colder. Seems to get worse every year! BTW LOVE the head and shoulders ithy scalp!
I normally don’t blow dry my hair, but sometimes need to in the winter.

I use a lot more lotion and chapstick.
MCantu1019 at aol dot com
I don’t really change my routine either expect I tend to bathe myself in lotion because of dry skin!
I have to use more lotion on my hands and I use a different moisturizer on my face than I do during the summer. I also notice more “flakes” but that could be from wearing darker colors. 😛
Sandy A
Lotion, lotion, and more lotion! My skin gets so dry in the winter that it literally cracks sometimes! Ouch!
I live in Southern California, so luckily I don’t have to change anything about my routine because the weather doesn’t really change.
With the return of cold weather, my body including my scalp becomes dry, moisturizer is a must.

I switch from a moisturizer lotion to a cream (yes, there is a difference). My dermatologist always recommends using Cerave — it helps a lot with winter dryness!

I agree with the lotion, my hands always get cracked in the winter.
I make sure to only wash my hair every other day instead of each morning…far fewer flakes that way! 🙂

I noticed in the winter my scalp gets uber dry and itchy. I use moroccan oil or olive oil and wrap my hair in a towel or a plastic shower cap and sleep with it. It gets messy and drips onto my pillow case so I don’t do it often enough. Sometimes 1xweek sometimes 1x month

I, too, have very itchy scalp, and sometimes will use a hot oil treatment on it at night with a shower cap.
I use shea butter on my hands every day and extra moisturizer on my face too in the winter
I really don’t change my routine, which is horrible, because I definitely notice the dryer skin.
My hair feels drier in winter, and flat from wearing hats..Wash my hair and use a deep conditioner in the winter more than I do in the summer. Hardly ever wear eyeshadow during the summer, when winter hits I start wearing again
I change my nail polish a bit and wear more glittery golds, green, or reds for the Holidays.

I don’t really change up my routine too much – we use Head and shoulders on occasion anyway!
As far as my skin it does tend to be dryer and requires that I use more moisturizer than ususal.

The only change I really make is using a humidifier. If I don’t use a humidifier in the winter, my forehead gets crazy flaky/peely and no amount of lotion or cream or oil will rehydrate it. But as long as I sleep with my humidifier going, all is right in the forehead world! LOL
