How to Make Bacon…In the Oven!

This weekend we made some BLT’s, minus the lettuce though cause while taking all 3 littles grocery shopping with me on Friday and having two of those said littles running around the store like completely misbehaved children (yup, I was THAT momma), this momma was sure to forget a few items on her list.
Anywaaaays, so as I was saying, we made some BT’s (no L) and as I was getting the cookie sheet out for the bacon my hubs gives me a weird look. He has always made bacon on the stove top and not the oven so he is a bit confused as to what I’m doing. In his weird-face making moment I realize that some of you may not have any clue as to what I’m talking about either. Bacon in the oven? Are you serious? YUPPERS, it’s the easiest, most simple way to make bacon ever! NO splatters, NO greasy mess to deal with after and best of all NO standing at the stove top flipping bacon!! Wahoo…could it get an better!?!
Alright, so here is how you do it:
Oven Cooked Bacon
Recipe Type: Breakfast
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 15 mins
Total time: 20 mins
Ingredients
  • Package of bacon
  • Jelly roll pan
  • Foil
  • Paper Towels
  • Cooling Rack (optional)
Instructions
  1. Line jelly roll pan with foil and place the bacon onto it.
  2. You may also place a cooling rack over the foil so your bacon is crispier but heck, that’s just one more thing for me to clean so I never use one!
  3. Bake in your oven at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. (More toward the 20 minute mark if you like your bacon crispy.)
3.2.2265
So first line your JELLY ROLL PAN with foil…

Then, place your bacon onto that nicely lined foil pan like so…
You can also place a cooling rack over the foil so your bacon is crispier but heck, that’s just one more thing for me to clean so I never use one!
Bake in your oven at 375 degrees for 15-20 minutes. More toward the 20 minute mark if you like your bacon crispy…Mmm, YUM!

It’ll look like this when all cooked up, see just like bacon on the stove top except nice and flat not all curled up and scrawny!
Are you seeing all that grease? Eeew!
Okay, so next line a plate, or another jelly roll pan, with the paper towels…

Now, carefully place each piece of bacon onto the paper towels with a fork or some tongs. This step will help soak up all the grease from your bacon…YAY for our arteries!!!
And, throw that grease-laden foil away…see, easy clean-up…whadiditellya!?!
Then, just dig in and eat…bacon is best eaten right out of the oven, who’s with me on this?

DELISH!
A lovely BT for a lovely weekend lunch (and if I would have some well-behaved children there would be some L on there too…ehhh, maybe next time!)
ENJOY!!!

That’s my favorite way to make bacon too! Try sprinkling some brown sugar on top or some fresh rosemary to kick it up a notch – delish!!

I’m coming over right now for that bacon sandwich!!!

I’ve never tried it that way — but will definitely be trying to now! I just HATE cleaning up the grease on my stovetop afterwards! Thanks for sharing!

      Have a great week!

I always make my bacon in the oven — it’s so easy to make enough for everybody at the same time that way, and less mess. If you want a really special treat, mix a little brown sugar and prepared mustard together and spread it on top of the bacon before baking, Paula Deen style. Yummers!

This is the best way to make lots of bacon! If I am just doing a few strips I put it in the microwave sandwiched in paper towels on a plate! Is that Turkey Bacon in your pics?

We do this too but put the bacon on a cookie rack so some of the grease drips off.

coffee filters are another great way to absorb the grease…. work for fries also =)

Yum! Thanks for the reminder. I keep forgetting to buy bacon b/c I always forget it can be made in the oven. I really don’t like the mess on the stove top. I wish you lived closer so you could eat some of the lettuce from our garden.

This is great! I always make my bacon in the microwave (layer paper towels on a plate, bacon, a paper towel on top, then micro for one minute per slice)…but this is awesome for when i need more than 6 slices!

I actually did this over the weekend- but I put the bacon on a cooling rack then on top of the foil lined pan- this way the bacon wasn’t swimming in the grease as it cooked 🙂
      so yummy.

I have never made bacon in the oven before, so thanks for letting me know how! I have 6 kids so I am always looking for easier ways to do things! I love your blog. You have such neat ideas!
Oh and I agree that is a cookie sheet. 🙂

I made Bacon tonight using this method. I really liked it. I don’t think I will go back to using a pan again. I teach a cooking class at school, and I will share this with my students. Thanks:)

Terrific! I hate all the splatters and pops! I have heard of this before, but didn’t realize it only took 15-20 min, and also didn’t realize the bacon would be so flat! I had seen a recipe for sugar coated bacon… I know, I know…Terrible for you, But it really did sound yummy! It was just bacon and brown sugar, baked…

What a great idea! I rarely cook bacon because I hate the messy and splattering grease. Does the grease not jump and get all over the oven this way?

Your story made me laugh becuase I decided to make BLT’s on Saturday (with sweet corn) and guess what I forgot??? The bacon. I wasn’s sure how to make a good BLT without it so I loaded the kids back in the car and went to get bacon. Glad I did the BLT’s were so tasty!

This is the only way we do bacon! Parchment paper works instead of foil too. I think it tastes better this way!

I put mine on a broiler pan and catch the grease that way. After ruining countless shirts making bacon, my mother finally clued me in on oven-baked bacon… will never use the stove top again!

I learned a trick from my mother-in-law years ago. Roll your bacon in flour first and then bake it 4oo-425, 15-20 min., depending on your oven. Very very crispy and good.

We started making bacon this way a few years ago, we like the texture better. We actually use a wire rack in the pan with the foil below it. It is a bit annoying to wash the wire rack, but we like doing it that way.

I like mine with little bits of char on it. Does that happen in the oven? This seems like a great method!

I made bacon for a crowd this morning. I put it on a cooling rack on a baking sheet so the grease drips off.
