These Irish Mules are a fun twist on an old favorite! They are the perfect drink to help you celebrate St. Patrick’s day with friends.
I know I’ve mentioned it before but it’s worth saying again, Moscow Mules are one of my most favorite alcoholic cocktails! And now with another fun holiday around the corner (I’m talking to you St. Patrick’s Day!), I just had to start mixing up a fun St. Paddy’s twist 🙂 I’ve been making some of these delicious Irish Mules lately and now my old favorite cocktail has a new life! Irish Mules still have that ginger beer goodness I cannot get enough of as well as the fresh lime and mint but instead of vodka we are using some whiskey, Jameson Irish Whiskey to be exact! If you remember, back around the holidays I shared my favorite Cranberry Moscow Mule recipe which I still love (and mixed up until I ran out of fresh cranberries!) but now it’s time for an Irish spin just in time for St. Patrick’s Day celebrating. You will still need some fun copper mugs to get the full Mule effect when drinking it. Remember, the copper mug keeps your cocktail extra cold! And of course you will need some ginger beer! This ginger beer is my favorite (it’s got a lot of spicy flavor to it!) although it’s a bit harder to find. And this ginger beer is right up there with it and much easier to find throughout the US.
Irish Mules
The big change here from the classic Moscow Mule is the substitution of Jameson Whiskey for my beloved Tito’s vodka. Its a fun spin on a classic cocktail that you are sure to enjoy!
- 2 oz Jameson Whiskey
- 6 oz ginger beer
- 1 lime
- ice
- fresh mint sprigs (optional)
- Fill a glass (a copper mug is best if you have it!) with 2/3 full with ice.
- Pour whiskey and ginger beer over top the ice.
- Cut the lime in quarters.
- Using half the lime (2 quarter slices), squeeze the juice of the limes into the glass or mug and drop the squeezed slices into the cup.
- Stir together and garnish with fresh mint sprigs.
All you need is some Ginger Beer, Jameson Irish Whiskey, Limes, and Mint Sprigs! Now doesn’t that look refreshing!!!
