Leather Wrap Card Case Tutorial and Leatherhidestore.com Gift Card Giveaway!

Leather Wrap Card Case Tutorial Have you ever heard of LeatherHideStore.com? Well, I was lucky enough to be asked to review some of their amazing leather products earlier this year and can I just say WOW! I could not love their stuff more. All their leather is so smooth and buttery soft plus the range of colors is just plain awesome! If you have never sewn with leather I have an fun tutorial to share with you today on how to make a stylish leather card case for all your business cards…or credit cards…or pictures of your littles! Really, the possibilities are endless for using this chic thang!
Leather Wrap Card Case TutorialI made this card case as a wrap style with the closure as a long piece of leather that you tie off in front. But you could easily omit the tie and have it be closed just by folding the top flap over or you could even add a snap or magnetic closure if you are daring!

Leather Wrap Card Case

One rectangular piece of leather measuring 6.5 x 4 inches

One piece of leather measuring 1/4 inch x 14 inches (for the tie closure)

Leather needle for your sewing machine

e6000 or similar glue (optional)

Leather Wrap Card Case TutorialTo make this card case I used a gorgeous buttery piece of Ruby Red Slipper leather. This red is such a great shade, bright but not too bright and rich! The first thing I did before sewing the pocket for my business cards was to add a small notch at one end of the leather in the middle of the 4 inch side more for looks more than anything else, really! Then, on that same end, fold 1 1/2 inches of the leather over, wrong sides facing and clip with a large paperclip of binder clip. You do not want to pin together as the pin holes will show in your leather! Then sew all the way around the entire card case with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.Leather Wrap Card Case TutorialNext take your 14 inch strip of leather that you will be using as the tie closure and snip one end with a rotary cutter or pair of sharp scissors so that you have a pointed tail-like end on one end only. This gives the tie closure a nicer look and will also make it easy to loop through the wrapped leather!Leather Wrap Card Case TutorialThen either glue the blunt end of the tie closure to the middle wrong-side of the card case flap or you can also sew it on. I chose to glue it because I didn’t want stitch marks on the outer side of the leather on the flap.Leather Wrap Card Case TutorialLet the glue dry and then fill your card case with all your pretty little business!Leather Wrap Card Case Tutorial Leather Wrap Card Case Tutorial
