My mom is a nurse, and growing up I remember she had a super cool vintage (to me) shirt tucked away in her closet that said, “Hug a Nurse PRN” and I thought it was the coolest thing. PRN meaning ‘As Needed” in medical lingo! So being Nurses Week, I thought I’d take that medical lingo an extra step and make a fun cut file on my Silhouette for a funny nurse gift idea! Working 12 hour shifts and needing to be ready for anything, nurses gotta have their caffeine!
So the cut file I created says, “Caffeine PO Q4H PRN” and in medical shorthand it means:
Caffeine
- PO-by mouth
- Q4H-every for hours
- PRN- as needed
Sounds about right for a nurse, right?!!!;-) (affiliate links present)
I found this awesome Built Travel Coffee Mug which I love because it has the coolest lid closure. It’s also a hot/cold travel mug which works great if you want iced coffee or water or just want to use it by the pool in the summer!

Then, just cut it out using your Silhouette machine and and some outdoor vinyl (so it has better staying power!) and weed it (separate the text from the unused vinyl).
Then press on your transfer paper (<–I like this one!)…
And transfer to the medium of your choice (travel mug, regular coffee mug, etc!)
I filled mine with Instant Coffee Packs and some matching chocolates…you know I like to color coordinate! 😉
There, all filled up!
