Our Family Pictures (2012)

| Filed Under: Life with Kids

Yes, that really does say 2012, your eyes do not deceive you 😉  I truly had all intention of sharing these pictures with you last year (okay one month ago?…does that sound better?) but time and life got away from me.
We had the pleasure this fall of having my good friend, Jessica, of Studio Pop Hair & Photography take our family pictures. I think they turned out so cute!  She did an amazing job especially in light of the fact the she was dealing with my four crazies and we were shooting around dinner time as we both wanted the pictures to capture that beautiful sweet light that comes at the end of the day!
Jess is one of those photographers who just ‘gets it’.  She has a knack for photography and was just meant to do this in life. She is so good with her camera and composes every picture she takes so well. Can you tell I love her?
We loved this picture (above) so much we decided to use it in our Christmas cards this year!  Want to see how they turned out?
Squeeeee!  I just LOVE them!  Jess and I worked together on the concept and she designed them herself, I love that they are one-of-a-kind.  We used her printing press and I had them in a day!  I feel like I’ll never go back to Shutterfly or Minted.com now as spoiled as I was about that.

And here is the backside!  This was my absolute favorite part of our Christmas card! 🙂  I love each individual polaroid picture of our kids, it’s so charming and totally me!

Here are few of my favorite shots from our photo shoot.
Doesn’t Noah look so mature here?  Do I seriously have a 6 year old?
And my Penelope…she loved getting her picture taken, can you tell?

Oh Eloise…this girl gave us the hardest time.  She would not crack a smile for the life of me but Jess is so good and was able to get some amazing shots of her…that is a telling sign of a great photographer I tell ya!

And my Oliver…he is such a card.  He gave us some of the best faces that day.  Always my smiley, happy baby….oh, how I love him so.

Sisters!

Daddy and his oldest!

My little model 🙂

Umm, yeah.  I still can’t believe he has brown eyes.  Where did those come from?  Oh, yeah…ME!

Jess took a few shots of me and Mr. Smashed Peas too, it’s so nice to have some pictures of just the two of us…how rare is that these days? This is one of my favorites!

And this one too!  Aww, aren’t we cute 😉

If you live in the Chicago suburbs and are looking for an amazing photographer to capture your newborn, children, family, wedding…etc. etc. give Jess a call.  I can’t say enough great things about her and our session.  She is a very dear friend who does outstanding work and I would highly recommend giving her a try!  You can see more of her work on her website, here , or on her Facebook page, here.

Thanks for stopping by today!

XOXO,

Those family pictures were so full of sweetness, Maggie! Your kids look so cute, especially your youngest, Oliver. Time’s running fast, sooner or later they’ll be all grown up and getting you to take a picture with their own families!

Thank you so much, Madeleine! I know, I am already so sad that Oliver is 6 months old…where did the time go? 🙂

This is an adorable, heartwarming post, Maggie. I think it is great that you actively involve your family in your posts and set such a nice scene for your friend and awesome photographer, Jessica. You were right, the lighting was perfect! The pictures came out beautiful!
Jessica certainly does seem to have a natural knack for capturing those special moments at the right time.
Additionally, I have always liked the fall. I have always liked the changing leaves, the scents, the traditions of fall and everything that makes up the season, which makes these pictures and the way that Jessica imagined and captured the lighting and autumn background especially beautiful. In my opinion, not only did Jessica create beautiful family photographs, but she was also able to insert the essence of the season which I believe you wanted to create, with using the fading daylight of “dinner time” in autumn.
      Keep up the great work!
