What a great day this has been! We started off today with a trip to the apple orchard! (I know, I can’t believe it’s almost the end of September already!) We decided to visit Woodstock Country Orchard in Woodstock, IL this morning and what a fun time we had. This orchard is just apples, and on little dwarf apple trees at that, perfect for the kidlets. We chose it because there weren’t any of the extra kiddie things there like petting zoos, rides, etc. We just wanted something simple to start this seasons picking with so that the kids (and us) weren’t overwhelmed by all the mayhem that can quickly ensue with all things kiddie. For us, it was the perfect first visit to the orchards to start our apple picking season. We picked loads of Jonathon, Cortland, and Jonamac apples which are now ready to be covered in caramel and baked into other delicious goodies. Boy, I really love this time of year, don’t you!?
And, to put a cherry on top of such a great day and in case you weren’t watching…***football spoiler alert***….the Bears won!!!! Unbelievable, but true, I saw it with my own eyes!
AND, to put some sprinkles on top of that cherry, I took first place in the chili cook-off!!!! So super excited about that, WOO-HOO!!
The perfect apple…little green leaf and all!
Trying to find the perfect tree...
OK, Noah’s turn now…the consummate good big brother!
Surrounding little sis with apples is a great way to make sure she stays in her wagon. Now Noah can pull her around the orchard and she has no reason to try to escape!
How many apples does it take to make Little Miss P happy?
Snack break!
Wagons and all-u-can-eat apples…this day just couldn’t get any better!
Penny thinking picking this apple is waaaay more fun than smiling for this picture.
