If you have little girls, you will want to learn how to make these easy Pipe Cleaner Princess Crowns! They can be made quickly and in so many fun colors to match every outfit and are inspired by the cute kids show, NELLA THE PRINCESS KNIGHT. You can watch Nella the Princess Knight weekdays on Nickelodeon.
My girls and I have started watching Nella the Princess Knight and love the story line so much that we were inspired create these simple yet fancy pipe cleaner crowns! As a momma, I love that Nella is not just a princess, and not just a knight. She’s a princess-knight! She breaks barriers, challenges expectations, and fights for justice on every adventure. Nella is a great hero for girls because she always stays true to herself using her determination, power, and courage!
Nella the Princess Knight is an animated preschool series (though kids any age will love follow along on her adventures!) that follows 8-year old Nella…a girl who embodies royal qualities like compassion and grace and also has the courage and determination of a brave knight. I love that Nella the Princess Knight promotes self-confidence, inclusiveness and compassion for others. Qualities every child should know and have in my opinion! You can watch Nella the Princess Knight weekdays on Nickelodeon. In order to “be your sparkly best” like Nella says in the show, we thought we would haven creating some fun Princess Crowns using pipe cleaners! How is that for being “royally awesome!”
These crowns are the perfect addition to creative play time along with all the fun Nella the Princess Knight toys out there right now!
Pipe Cleaner Princess Crowns
To make these Pipe Cleaner Princess Crowns you will need the following:
- Pipe Cleaners
- Scissors
- To make the base the crown, cross two ends of the pipe cleaners together.
- Twist the ends over each other until the blend into the the rest of the pipe cleaner, essentially connecting the pipe cleaners.
- Before you connect the other ends together, test the size out on your princess. Then clip off any excess pipe cleaner with a scissors and the connect the ends together like in Step 1 and 2.
- To make the points on the crown, twist the end of a new pipe cleaner around the base of the crown.
- Make a triangle by adding a bend to the pipe cleaner a few inches from where it was tied into the base. Wrap the pipe cleaner around the base and then make another triangle by bending the pipe cleaner again. Continue doing this until you get back to your starting point.
- When you need to add another pipe cleaner, just twist the ends together and continue on your way!
When you are done going aound the base of the crown, it will look like a sun (see picture above!) Remember to snip of the extra pipe cleaner and then twist the end into the base the crown!
- To make the second row of crown points, simply twist a new color (if you choose) of pipe cleaner around the base of the crown making sure to start in the middle of a triangle from the first round of points!
- Make another point and, if needed, connect another pipe cleaner by twisting the ends together like you did for the first round of points.
- Continue twisting the pipe cleaner around the base of the crown until you are back at the beginning. Then cut off any excess pipe cleaner and twist the ends in.
- When you are done, press the points (remember, which were laying flat!) inward to bring them to a standing position. This may take a bit to get the points exactly the way you want them.
And there you have it! Adorable princess crowns in any color you like!
