You know what I am thankful for this summer? The new line of creative kits called, We Made It by Jennifer Garner, found at Joann’s. If you have little ones between the recommended ages of 4-11 then I think you might like it too. We were sent a kit (1 of over 100 different creative kits and projects in the line) to try out and today we are going to give you our all of our thoughts about it and why it was a winner in our house!
These We Made It by Jennifer Garner kits were designed to promote imaginative exploration among kids age 4-11. The kit we tried out was called a Make it Grow Treasure Box. It was filled with everything you need to bling out this unfinished wooden box with two removable shelves and a framed lid. You get 4 pots of acrylic paint, 4 sponge daubers, 2 paint brushes, 1 sheet of adhesive stencil phrases, 2 sheets of adhesive letters and numbers stencils, and one rock painting picture dictionary. My girls set out to decorate it one evening and they had a blast doing so. It was the perfect project for them to work on together. Ellie was assigned the shelves and the lid while Penny had the honors or painting the box. Teamwork!
Just a FYI, you will want to protect whatever surface you are working on as well as have your children in clothes they can get paint on as this kit uses acrylic and not washable paint!
We needed to wait about an hour or so before we could start the stenciling but that was no big deal as we were doing this project outside so we just played for a little bit while the paint dried. I really liked that the stencils were adhesive and removable so that you actually got a clean stencil design. And you didn’t need tape. And you could reuse it in another part of the box as the stick really held up. Total win!
We really had a nice time working on this Treasure Box and now my girls have a place to store all the rocks they pick up on our walks and for all the flowers the pick for me too!

I saw this new line at JoAnn’s and thought they were cute, but they are sooooooooooo expensive! Even with a 40% coupon, it is NOT worth it. They were around $25 dollars! You could buy all the supplies for a couple bucks and that would leave you with supplies like bottles of paint and brushes left over. I don’t think the line is going to last or they are going to have to seriously reduce the price.

not worth the money. What a disappointment. The table runner kit looked rather cute but my store did not have it nor did it have many of the cuter, more interesting kits. Also sales folks had to look to find where kits were stashed. Newsletter advertised boldly but customer service said they did not carry necessarily what was advertised. Boy, were they right.
Glad I was able to examine the few kits I could find. I would never order them on line. And doubt I shall purchase one.

These kits are great!- I bought two for myself, the flower press and the washi tape. I agree, I was at first put off by the price, but after watching the promotional video by Miss Garner I believe she would have wanted these fun kits to be more affordable to us and our children. When I returned to Joann’s at a later date the kits were all marked down so I bought a few of them. I made another visit to buy a gift for my grandson from the line and they were discontinued and I was so disappointed. I wish I could protest to the right person to get them to lower the cost…
