Sherwin Williams Perfect Palette Room ReDo and Giveaway-Part 2

Okay, so remember when I shared my horribly ugly guest bedroom with you here?  The one we decided we are going to make over into my oldest son’s room?  Well, today I wanted to let you know that we finally decided on a color palette. Hooray!

So first, a review! Here were my two color palette choices…

Palette #1:

In the picture above you can see how I used Sherwin-Williams’s new Chip It! button, which lets you use any picture you find online to create a perfect palette for inspiration.  It is awesome!

You can get the Chip It! button just like the Pin It button for Pinterest.  First you drag the Chip It! button below to your toolbar:

Whenever you spot a photo you like online, just click the Chip It! button and then click the photo itself. And voila–you get the picture’s paint colors.  So easy!  It rocks my socks.

All right, enough with the suspense. We chose color palette #2!!!
I just loved the mix of colors in this photograph.  I think it will suit Noah just fine too, as he loves the color orange. This color palette definitely appealed to all of us: me, for my love of the neutral gray color as a base for decorating; my husband, for the infusion of blues and oranges so it is not a ‘Debbie Downer’ sort of room where you feel depressed walking into it on a daily basis (his thoughts, not mine, people!); and Noah, for the ORANGE. This kid loves orange and he is so happy that he will have a room with orange decor.  Don’t you love it when it’s the little things that can make a kid happy?  🙂

So…now back to the ugly room we need to make over.  Let’s just take a look-see at it one more time and let me share with you some thoughts I have about the redecorating that is about to take place.

Yeah, there’s a lot of crazy going on in this room!

Just to share a few redecorating ideas with you…
1. The wallpaper has got to go!  This is definitely priority #1 right now. †In its place will be a nice light grey paint color. Ahhhh, goodness!
2. The queen-size bed will be replaced by a twin bed with a frame, quite possibly the one my husband used as a child. 🙂
3. The makeshift nightstand will go bye-bye and we’ll replace it with something more “Noah.”
4. The window will get its molding back, and then on top of that some nice curtains or drapes, quite possibly in orange for the little man!
5. Two words: WALL ART!!!  This room has been such a catchall for junk since we moved into our house that I am uber-excited to finally get some nice wall art up in here.  And after using the Chip It! program, I know just the colors to bring into the room, hip hip hooray!

    I have a picture of my daughter playing in the sprinklers with her aqua umbrella and a rainbow striped dress. It has always been one of my favorite pictures of her. I think I would use the colors as inspiration for her new bedroom [yay for buying our first house!].

    My daughter loves the Carl books, and we have a print of Carl and the baby in the park with the balloon man. I would love to repaint her room and include some of the balloon colors in the decorating!

    I like grey tones, natural brown tones, and white combined with an occasional “pop” of color. Feels very soothing to me 🙂

    Currently every wall in our living room has multiple grey stripes. We have it down to two colors but they are different as can be. Light/dark, blue tint/brown tint, one we like more in natural light and the other more in artificial light. If only we had a picture of our finished living room to ichip. How easy that would be to pick the ‘right’ color now!

    Chip It! is awesome! I’ll use it to find the perfect shade of grey for my bedroom – it’s so hard to find a warm tone – and the perfect shade of pink for my daughter’s room that’s not too frilly for my addicted-to-pink, thinks-she’s-a-teen tween.

    Wow! What an amazing giveaway! We will be welcoming our first baby this December and would use chipit to select the paint for the nursery! We won’t find out if it is a boy or girl until next month so my Pinterst inspiration board is all over the place!

    Several years ago when we were going to paint our daughter’s room I saw a picture in a magazine with the most perfect delicate pink or purple (I can’t remember which), I would have loved to get the paint numbers for it.

    We need to do our master bedroom. After 14 yrs of marriage we finally bought real furniture but can’t decide on how to decorate around it. My husband is anti-anything to girly/flowery so we have a hard time coming to an agreement.

    I would use a photograph of my late summer hydrangeas. There are some great earthy colors , blues, greens, browns in them. I’m wanting to repaint my whole house and two of the four bedrooms so this would be an incredible win for me! (I couldn’t sleep last night because I was thinking through color swatches. ) I can’t wait to get the chip it and get started!

    First, I have to say I absolutely LOVE Sherman-Williams paint. I’ve been using them exclusively for a couple years now and find that the slight increase in price is beyond worth the quality of products. And the guys at our S-W are so awesome & knowledgable.

    I’ll be chipping items choosen by my son. We never got around to painting his room a fun color and now we’re moving so he will be the first to get a makeover. He loves all things orange so I’ve been thinking orange and greys, like you choose!

    i like the green. i’m pretty sure i couldn’t pick it without help though. 🙂 i want to re-do both kid rooms in our house. currently our older boy and girl are sharing a blue and yellow room with pink and green bedding (kinda a mishmash of stuff) and our baby boy is in a room with pink and white striped walls (his gets the first makeover) 🙂 thanks for the cool tool. 🙂

    My kitchen cabinets were painted white years ago and it’s wearing off – so I’d really like to do a neutral color on the walls and do a few different bright colors on the cabinets. It would be great to use chipit to figure out the right colors.

    I would use this image http://www.flor.com/all-square-orange.html to chip as I’m in love with this rug and I think it would be interesting to see what other colors can play with that color rug and not look like a rainbow exploded in the room. Chip it is so cool! I can never picture what everything will look like so this is super helpful. We just bought our first house and I am painting and decorating every room so Chip it will come in handy! Thanks for the chance.

    My boys wanted their whole room green, but by Chip”ing” some images for them we found other colors that worked with the green so we could compromise on the color palate. LOVE Chipit!

    I would use it for my whole house! Our living room and both bathrooms are white. The kitchen is an awful cream color and, well, I’m ashamed to go on! I could definitely use the gift cards!!! Thanks for the giveaway!

    I would use the chip it to redo my boys room. I am not really good at putting colors together and that would be the perfect tool for me. Then I would also use it to redo my dining room with some earth tone colors. I have a few pictures from a magazine I would work with.

    Our master bedroom needs help and chip it sound like a great tool to use. I grew up in the desert and miss it. I would use a photo of a red cactus flower, with golden notes from the pollen and the sandy desert back ground for inspriation. The more neutral tan color for the walls and the brigher colors to pop.

    I’m an avid photographer, so there are many choices…I took a particularly stunning photo of a Seattle sunset several years ago that would look fantastic “chipped.” The resultant colors would include a lot of deep, rich blues and grays that I would love to have in my home.
