One of my kids’ favorite things to do over out last winter break was to go and see SING in the movie theater. Let me tell you, this movie did not disappoint! It was full of great music just perfect for dancing in your seat at the movies (and in the car on the way home…and then again at home!) It was a funny, heartwarming film with a fantastic all-star cast. My kids are going to be so excited to find out that the SING Special Edition is now available on Blu-ray…just in time for Easter! And I just happen to think it makes the perfect Easter Basket stuffer so I created this super cute SING Movie Easter Basket inspired by the porcupine Ash who rocks her guitar in the movie.
To make this Easter Basket, I took a little inspiration for my daughters’ favorite character in the movie, Ash the rocker porcupine who is voiced by Scarlett Johannson. I thought it would be fun to create the porcupine quill look by using some glow sticks. And how perfect that my kids go gaga over these things and play with them any chance they get! I used three small tubes of the bracelet glow sticks and hot glued them onto the front of the basket handle. Because you are only gluing one small part of one end, I would highly suggest glueing a few on at a time and then letting them lean on something (like my kitchen cupboards!) while the glue dried. In no time, you’ll have enough to look like quite the porcupine!Once the quills were on, I took a little kraft paper and balled it up inside the basket to help all the goodies stand up a bit taller. I love using Kraft paper as a filler underneath the grass! Of course, the item that needs to be front and center is the new SING Special Edition Blu-ray. This super cute music-filled movie includes over 60-minutes of bonus content and will incorporate three all-new entertaining mini movies featuring the cast from SING as well as an exclusive Tori Kelly music video and a variety of musical extras. How fun is that? I think it will be just perfect for our next big family movie night over Easter break!
I also loaded up the basket with other movie goodies, popcorn and movie theater sized candies. Plus a fun itty bitty toy guitar just like Ash’s! Scholastic and Universal have partnered to celebrate the release of SING…so here’s a little bit about the movie below:
From Illumination, the studio that brought you The Secret Life of Pets and the Despicable Me franchise, comes an animated comedy about finding the music that lives inside all of us. SING stars Academy Award® winner Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic koala who puts on the world’s greatest singing competition to save his crumbling theater; Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, an overworked and unappreciated mother of 25 piglets desperate to unleash her inner diva (my favorite character!); Scarlett Johansson as Ash, a punk rock porcupine with a beautiful voice behind her prickly exterior; Taron Egerton as Johnny, a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies; as well as Seth MacFarlane, John C. Reilly, and Grammy Award-nominated Tori Kelly. SING is the musical comedy event of the year!
