I recently bought a pair of jeans that I love…this is monumental because this doesn’t happen very often for me. Me and jeans, well, let’s just say we don’t get along so well. It is so hard for me to find a pair I that I love. They are either, too short or too long, make my butt look weird, flare too much in the legs or not enough, blah, blah, blah…I am never smitten…until now. Unfortunately, the big suck factor with these newly found lovelies comes from the fact that I’m pregnant so my perfect jeans fit everywhere except for the whole ‘gotta button them up’ thing. Stinky! You might be thinking why on earth would I even bother buying non-maternity jeans right now but the whole ‘I can never find perfectly fitting ones’ was a huge part, plus they have super cute button flap pockets on the back and I have been looking for a pair with those forev-ah, double plus they were on super clearance for $7.98!!! BARGAIN!!

Your belly is cute! and you are brave to show it! I have some of these type things that can be worn for pregnant or unpregnant people!
very cute! i made some pregers skirts with the same kind of stretchy thing….the jeans however I must applaud you! There is NO way my favorite jeans fit me when my belly was that far along! I enjoyed my chocolate chips cookies WAY too much!! HAHA =)
perfect! i love it! in fact, i just took a break to read blogs in order to avoid the meltdown i was about to have since NOTHING FITS. so glad you posted this!
awesome jeans! I can never find ones that fit me either. . . . awesome band and tutorial- I will have to try this one. thank you!
Very cute, and you have a very nice baby bump too.
Love it! My sister just found out she is pregnant and this will help a lot! Come link your cute tute at my party: Thursday’s Treasures!!

Such a good idea! Thanks for sharing. I saw your square flower shirt on Little Birdie Secrets, and then I have been looking through the rest of your blog…I am so excited to try some of your recipes…like the fish tacos and the twix (oh my, that might be a downfall for me!!!) 🙂
Oops-I meant from Blue Cricket Design not Little Birdie Secrets (although I love that one too!)
love your belly and do I ever wish I knew about this when I was pregnant. So cute!
Great tutorial! In fact, you don’t even have to be preggers to enjoy it. I’m going to make one and I have no baby in my belly! I love the layered look, but don’t always have the undershirt that works with an outfit. If I had a couple of these in white, I could wear them under my favorite (but too short) tshirts!
Your belly looks better than mine! 🙂 I’m 20 wks prego with my third boy. I would love to be able to wear some of my normal jeans again! I will have to try this out!
Thanks for your tutorial….I am going to make one for my sister. One weird question for you….I have the same sewing machine as you and have been trying to do some shirred sundresses for my daughter (with elastic thread). Have you ever tried shirring with your machine? I have found that I can’t get the elastic tight enough at all to make it shrink up. I have read online that it is something to do with the drop in bobbin. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

So clever!!!!
Thanks for the tutorial. I went out and bought one when I was pregnant and spent WAY TO MUCH! I’m be saving this link for the next pregnancy. And trust me…you have a cute belly. There is NO way mine would be pictured on the internet. Girls would never want to have babies after seeing it!
I lived in one of these w/ my third pg!! AND it’s awesome for post baby, too, when you’re between sizes. You look great btw!
I found you thru a link and let me just say, wow!!! I just paid $20 each for these for my daughter at Target. Quick question, I know you said stretchy fabric. Any tips where to find this fabric? Thanks so much for this, I was tempted but thought I needed a serger to pull it off.
Awesome! I was directed to your site by Jena at Crafty Mom of 4 Boys and decided to surf your older posts… found this and imediately went to the fabric store, $3.48 and an hour later I had made two for my friend who’s 7 months along and has been put on bedrest after pulling ligaments in her lower abdomen. These will be a nice surprize gift to her that will hopefully bring her some comfort when she needs to be on her feet. (I made them a bit snug for her measurements for the support factor. (They can easily be let out too!) Thanks for this great tutorial!
I posted my comment before reading the existing ones and I have to say, Angie, what a brilliant way to use these outside of being pregnant! I have tons of shirts that are too short but they are Summer shirts and it gets too hot to wear layers! These solve that problem too! Thanks!
Thanks for your tutorial it was really helpful.I will forward this tutorial about the stretch bands to my friends who are pregnant. So even they can wear their jeans with comfort.
Thank you for sharing your awesome project at Thursday’s Treasures last week! Come share your crafty projects in this week’s Thursday’s Treasures too!

I just came across your blog which has some really great tutorials!! Anywhoooo, your belly (which i don’t think you have anymore? not sure) is/was adorable….preggo bellies are the best bellies….as much as I love having my son finally in my arms, I so loved my preggo belly!!!
I just found out I am pregnant with baby #3! I made some of these the last time I was pregnant.. but I have a question: Did you make these 30in in legth then? Just asking becuase when I made them the last time my belly was HUGE, but my waist was small and I ended up making them so big and had to keep sewing in another seam….
i should get on this craft asap =D i get so big and this is my thrid pregnantcy
awesome page – thanks so much for sharing! I’ll try to create a preagnancy band with the aid of your great tutorial. Your page is stunning.
Sarah
Thanks so much for this! I just made 3 in about ten minutes by repurposing unused t-shirts and preserving the existing hems (and sometimes one existing side seam). Can’t beat free, and it’s fun to have a print as well as solids.
YAY! So happy this tute helped you!
I am 69 yrs old, and a Aunt Mother to my 30 yr/o niece. “We” are having our first in Oct. I would love to make one of these for her to wear with her jeans, but I am confused as to how this works. Is the band sewed to the jeans? If not, how does she keep her pants up, she can’t button them now. I may be too old to catch on to this, but it looks so comfy and non-binding. Help me jout if you can. Thanks, Aunt Mother (grandmother) Sandy
Hi Sandy!
The band is not attached to the jeans. It is separate and you wear it around the top of the jeans and over the belly. If you get a knit with a nice amount of elasticity the band will hold up your unbuttoned jeans quite nicely! Hope this answer helps you some!
Love,
Maggie
