At the beginning of November my littles always look forward to starting our Thankful Jar. It’s a simple but powerful idea, I think. I place a bunch of strips of colorful paper in a large mason jar and everyday my kids stop by sometime during the day and fill out a slip, “I Am Thankful For…” with whatever they are thankful for that day. Then they staple the slips of paper together and at the end of the month we have a beautiful paper chain decorating our house filled with all the things our family is thankful for…it’s so darn awesome!
I love this activity because it makes us take a few moments out of our day and think about what we are truly thankful for. Healthy food, good friends, a warm home to live in, an invitation to a friend’s birthday party (<–from Ellie!), really whatever comes to their mind. It is a great exercise in thankfulness and a great way to lead into the Thanksgiving holiday and what it is all truly about.I have a FREE Printable for you if you’d like to use it, it reads “I Am Thankful For:” and allows for you to have 8 strips per 8 1/2 x 11 inch piece of paper. I like to use card stock in Fall colors so that our paper chain doubles as festive Thanksgiving decor! Just click below for the printable!
Printable: I Am Thankful For… Print off as many sheets as you would like. There are 6 of us so I print off around 13 pages so that everyone gets a strip each day and then there are extras for those days when you have more to write down. I hope you have fun with this activity. It is one of our favorite things to look forward to every fall!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Love,
Maggie
