The World’s Best M&M Cookies {A Recipe}

| Filed Under: Dessert, Party Food, Recipes

Umm yeah, so do you need a great, out-of-this world recipe for M&M cookies?  You do?  Well hot dog!  I guess today is your lucky day!  I happen to have just that thing right up my sleeve and I’m prepped and ready to share it, holla!  🙂
This recipe is one of my family’s favorites, it makes the perfect soft and chewy M&M cookie…we aren’t fans of the crisp flat cookie over in this neck of the woods, sorry dudes.  Of course you can change out the M&Ms for Reese’s Pieces, Toffee bits, heck even chocolate chips but isn’t there just something so fun about M&M cookies.  My kids love them to bits.  Maybe cause they feel like they are getting two treats in one…a cookie and those awesome colorful candy pieces, score!  And they didn’t even have to re-learn going on the potty to get some 😉
These happen to be one of the cookies I made for Eloise’s Vintage Milk and Cookies party seen here.  They were part of the goody bag that each guest was to take home at the end of the party.  I Hope you make some and enjoy them as much as we do!!
The World’s Best M&M Cookies
Recipe Type: Dessert
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 11 mins
Total time: 21 mins
Serves: make 3 dozen cookies
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups M&Ms or other candy pieces
Instructions
  1. Cream the butter, shortening, both sugars and vanilla together with an electric mixer until fluffy.
  2. Slowly add in each egg one at a time and mix together.
  3. Then mix in the baking soda, salt and flour.
  4. Add in the M&Ms and mix by hand until incorporated well.
  5. Drop by spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 11 minutes or until lightly golden brown.
  6. Let cool and store in an airtight container for up to one week!

To start, grab your sugars both white and brown…
Then grab the shortening and butter and cream everything together in an electric mixer until nice and fluffy.    Slowly add in one egg at a time.
Don’t forget to add in your vanilla…add in 2 teaspoons if you love it like I do!
Then mix in the flour, baking soda and salt…
Once you have mixed everything with your electric mixer (and if you don’t have one you can totally make this recipe so don’t worry!!  It’ll just take a bit more manpower than us lazy folk) you will want to get two lovely cups of M&M’s…
Pour the 2 cups of candies in to your flour mixture and mix by hand so you don’t crush any of them…that would be sad, although the cookies would still taste just as good 🙂
Than drop my tablespoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for about 11 minutes or until lightly golden brown.

Let cool on a wire rack and then eat a few with a glass of milk.

Oooh and remember, you can store them in an airtight container for up to 1 week!  I’m loving storing them in my ginormous Ball mason jar ‘cookie jar’, this thing is like 12 inches tall!!
Then when the mood strikes you, you can just grab a handful and eat them with your back turned so the kids can’t see you, hehe.
Happy Baking!
XOXO,

We’re gonna make them now (I mean, try – my oven and I have a love hate relationship!). Your cookies always look super delicious. My brother has just arrived from overseas and is making his way to us shortly – my 4 smallies are dying to make cookies for him. If they turn out as good as yours look Uncle Frank is gonna be lucky to get crumbs!

I love your measuring cups and pictures. I’m not the hugest fan of m&m’s (shocking, huh) but you make these look amazing. 🙂 I’ll have to try them with other candies too.

Where did you find your Ball “cookie jar?” I have several large antique Ball canning jars and would love to find an airtight lid to use with them to turn them into cookie jars like yours. It would be great to see what yummy things were inside the jar! Thanks!
