TUTORIAL: How to Make Your Own Hang Tags with Silhouette Sketch Pens and August Promo!

| Filed Under: Gift Ideas, Sewing, Sewing Basics, Silhouette, Tutorials

Have you ever used the Sketch Pens for the Silhouette cutting machines? Oh man, they are so rad. Silhouette came out with a whole bunch of fun colors for their sketch pens and they are really fun to play with.

You can see they even have glitter pens! And gold, bronze, and silver color pens as well as a white one which is fun to do on the black vinyl to look like chalk!

To use the sketch pens, just pop out your blade and replace it with a pen…easy peasy!
To make these fun hang tags with my shop logo on them, I just uploaded my logo as a black and white image and traced it in the Silhouette program. From there I just “cut” it out, using the sketch pen in place of blade so it would draw the image. Then I used the hang tag that comes free in your Silhouette library, centered each tag around my images, and cut the tags out as you normally would. Just remember to leave your paper in place between sketching and cutting so everything lines up nice and tidy!  Aren’t these tags cute!
If you are still looking at buying a Silhouette cutting machine, whether it be the Cameo or the Portrait, this month Silhouette has some great deals bundled with their Sketch Pens! And if you already have a Silhoutte, there is a deal for just get the Sketch Pens too 🙂

Hello Maggie! I am in desperate need of advice/help! I am a beekeeper who wants to learn to make her own custom hang tags for honey jars. Something printed, die cut and with a hole for the tie. I can’t seem to find anywhere any detailed info/tute on how to do that! What machine should I get, etc. I would so appreciate any advice you can give.

      Kindest Regards,
      Janet L. Wilson

        Hi Janet!
How cool!!! I would suggest either a Silhouette or a Cricut, both machines (from different companies) are wonderful and you can create lots of amazon hang tags, labels, boxes, etc with them. I think you should be able to browse through both die cut libraries online to see which has more downloadable content that you prefer. And with the holidays coming up you might be able to get some great doorbuster deals on them too!! Good luck!!
