This is a sponsored post for the Elmer’s “Crafty Mamas” Blogger Crew. I have received compensation for this post, but the ideas and opinions are , as always, 100% my own! Here in Chicagoland we had a couple of “windchill” days off of school last week so all my littles were home from school. When it gets to be -30 outside with windchill our school district thinks it’s just too mean to have them waiting outside to catch the bus and I totally agree. So instead we spent our days baking, reading Valentine’s Day books, watching Valentine’s Day movies and crafting, you guessed it, all sorts of Valentines-y fun! I thought it would be fun to create a few Valentine Chalkboard Love Letters for my sweet littles with some Elmer’s 8×10 inch foam board. They are the perfect size for a nice, big love letter! I made the front side look just like the outside of an envelope, stamps included! And added chalkboard to the other side so that I could write them cute little love notes too. Valentine Chalkboard Love Letters
8×10 inch Elmer’s foam board
Scrapbook paper
X-acto knife
Elmer’s washable school glue stick
Chalkboard vinyl or chalkboard paint
Love Stamp craft stickers
These love letters are so fun to make! You can decorate the front of the envelopes in any way you’d like. I think a hand written script would be so cute in the ‘To’ and ‘From’ areas, too bad my hand-writing is less than stellar, lol.
The first thing I did was cut my chalkboard vinyl to size, 8 x 10 inches, and then peel the backing off and carefully stick it to one side of the foam board. If you want you could also use chalkboard paint, just make sure to give it two good coats and cure it!I chose to print out my ‘To’ and ‘From’ areas on the computer and then I used an x-acto knife to cut the letters out. You could also do this with a Silhouette or Cricut machine too!
Once my letters were cut out I cut the scrapbook paper down to a manageable size for the foam board. Then I glued that paper down to another bold color of scrapbook paper so the letters would stand out.
Then I glued each to the correct areas of the envelope, added some cute little love stamps and voila! you are done!
Now you can flip it over and write anything you want. I thought these would be fun to hang on my littles’ bedroom doors…a new love note every day, how fun!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Love,
Maggie
