Washi Tape & Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial

| Filed Under: Children, Home Decor, Kids Crafts, Reviews, Tutorials

The other weekend, my little girlies and I had ourselves a Girl’s Day Out. I love finding an afternoon or evening where just us girls can get away and bond and it is even better when we can get a whole day away from those roundhouse kicking boys in our house, lol. It is something so special that we all look forward to and we do all sorts of things. It could be dinner and a movie, a mani/pedi, or a trip down to Chicago. This time around I thought it would be fun to document our day with our new Fujifilm INSTAX Mini 8 Instant Camera so that the girls could have actual photos as keepsakes (I never get around to printing them off of my phone, I know, so bad!). Afterward we created this fun Washi Tape & Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath so the girls could place their photos on their bedroom wall. They can look at them whenever they please!

Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.com This Clothespin Photo Wreath is super easy to make and great for little hands to help with and, depending on their age, they could even make one own their own! Here is what you’ll need:

Clothespins

Washi Tape

Wooden Beads in various shapes and colors

14 gauge aluminum jewelry wire

4-5 inch piece of ribbon or trim

x-acto knife scissors

Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.com Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.com

The first thing you will need to do is cut a piece a washi tape to be slightly longer than the clothespin. Press it onto one side of the clothespin and then, using an x-acto knife, trim away the excess washi tape.Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.comContinne covering your clothespins until you have enough for the size wreath you would like, our wreath used 14 clothespins. Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.comNext, layout how you would like your wreath to look. This will make threading the wreath much faster in the next step! Since we used a pink heart designed washi tape, we picked out the red/pink/peach shades of the wooden beads to go between each clothespin. You will want beads in between each clothespin so that the photos you clip afterward do not get bunched up or overlap each other! Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.com Then, using your jewelry wire, thread it through the hole in the spring of the clothespin. Next thread the beads and then continue until you like the circumference of the wreath. Do not worry about the wire being wonky looking, it gets hidden by the clothespins and the beads! Once you are happy with the size, pull an extra inch or two of wire and then clip with scissors. Overlap the wire around the other end a few times and tuck the sharp end in as best you can. Add a piece of ribbon or trim at the top for hanging and you are done! Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.com

Fill up with all your adorable pictures and enjoy!!Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.comNow just a little bit about our new favorite camera the new, compact INSTAX Mini 8. It gives you instant photos anytime, anywhere and is easy to carry everywhere. We love how easy it is to use, even my kids can use it and can capture a perfect photo every time! The new Mini 8 cameras has a slimmer and lighter body and it features automatic exposure measurement. The camera signals the recommended aperture setting with a flashing LED light and the user can manually adjust the dial to the recommended setting. This helps capture the perfect photo every time. A new High-Key mode is available on the INSTAX Mini 8 cameras. This mode enables consumers to take brighter pictures with a soft look which is perfect for portraits. The viewfinder has also been improved for enhanced subject viewing. Framing a shot becomes easier for the user with even greater clarity and improved visibility. Washi Tape and Wooden Bead Clothespin Photo Wreath Tutorial // SmashedPeasandCarrots.comAnd just to see how wonderful these photos turn out, check out these lil cuties! I love how taking shots indoors or outdoors makes no difference with the easy manual settings on the Instax Mini 8. I learned a long time ago that pictures are fun if they’re filled with people you love. So even though I’m overweight and my hair may not be doing what I want, I jump into pictures whenever my daughters, Girl Scouts, family or friends ask me to. These are memories, and we don’t look at family and friends and think they’re a mess. We look at the picture and remember their laugh, their hug and what they mean to us. Pictures and life are more fun when you’re in the moment and having a blast!
