We did our traditional ‘first day of school’ breakfast. This year’s chosen delicacy, if you will remember, was the mini pancake, stacked high of course.
Following in her big brother’s footsteps, Little Miss P asked for flags on hers as well, but in all red. Yes, Ma’am. Will do!
Anything for this sweet little face.
We were back at it, measuring ‘first day of school’ heights once again. One day we’ll be doing this 4x in one morning…how weird will that be?
Then of course it was off to take pictures outside before our sweet little walk to Preschool.
Do you see her earrings? They are clip-ons…I don’t think momma is ready for her sweet ear lobes to be pierced just yet. She just had to wear them, they completed her outfit or so I was told. This girl is seriously 4 going on 16…and just like her momma so I really can’t complain that much 🙂
Can you believe that not 4 hours earlier it was storming outside? As wet as can be. I’m glad I’m not predicting weather for a living. Who would have thought it would look like this minutes before we headed off to school.
Upon arrival, meeting friends was to be had. And then off to check out the new toys, ahem, I mean learning tools 😉
First station she had to visit was the water station. This girl LOVES her water, she is the first one to jump into any body of water, any time, and in any weather so this was just fitting for my little fish.
After all the learning was done it was back home to make one of her favorite cookies for her ‘first day of school after-school snack’. Momma loves making these cake mix cookies just as much…easy and delicious=two thumbs up!
- 1 box cake mix (we love the Funfetti mix!)
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup oil
- Mix everything together until well combined.
- Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place on a greased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 7 minutes at 350 degrees or until cookies are golden brown.
A plate of cookies just for her…she wishes!
Maybe just one, dinner is right around the corner.
I think she could live with that.

So cute! Where did you find her earrings? We are always looking for fun clip-ons too! My 6 year old desperately wants her ears pierced, but I’m just not ready for it!
Maggie says
I actually made her little earrings cause I can never find cute little girl ones anywhere! I just bought a bunch of cabochons online and the backs at Hobby Lobby!

I’m assuming the cookies are baked at 350, not 50 degrees. We have a similar recipe that uses cool whip.
Maggie says
Haha, you are correct! Just changed it now, thanks!

So lovely, Penelope!
It’s curious. Here in Spain we pierce our baby girls’s ears a few days after they were born. It’s difficult to find a four-year-old girl without pierced ears!!!

Maggie,
I was searching for my GF’s blog and came across your interesting one. Started reading about your girlie-girl similar to or dd at age 3 wearing clip on earrings. I had to laugh when you said, “….do you see her earrings? They are clip-ons…I don’t think momma is ready for her sweet ear lobes to be pierced just yet. She just had to wear them, they completed her outfit or so I was told.” Welcome to the world where little girls want to be like mommy. She sees your pretty earrings and wants to feel pretty too. Mommie, it may be time to accept the fact and go ahead and take her to have them pierced when you can care for them properly.
Our dd went through clip ons, stickers and magnetic earrings, but with no satisfaction. When I told her to ask daddy about earrings, he casually said yes, but didn’t quite understand she was asking for having her ears pierced now. I had to tell her she wasn’t old enough too. That lasted about a month until her baby girl cousin, aged 6 mos showed up for a visit with cute little gold balls in each ear! Again, she wanted to know why her baby cousin had earrings and she didn’t? Dh chimed in and wanted to know too ): He kept telling his sister how cute her dd, Amelia, looked with earrings. In fact he strongly hinted he wanted our dd’s ears pierced soon as well. The pressure was on now and the cards stacked against me. As an out, I told dh that I would ask our ped. Well, I didn’t expect what happened next.
Our ped actually encouraged me to go ahead saying it was best when mommy could care for them. She said it have become more popular to pierce little girls ears because is safer with the newer ear piercing instruments. She gave me some tips which included some OTC meds to minimize any discomfort. I decided to wait not being ready too.
One day, dh calls out to me from the family room asking me to come in there. Our dd had gotten a pair of my earrings and was asking dh how to put them in her ears! She almost put one in her ear canal! Dh laughed and told me to take her to have them pierced before we had to take her to the ER to remove an earring! At this point, I was ready and told dh I started seeing other little babies including two in church nursery and another little girl in our dd’s pre-K group. I finally realized how cute our little girl would look with cute earrings and yielded to pressure.
I’d say if your dd is girlie girl and you’ve remotely thought about it, then it may be time to go ahead. having the other girls ears pierced, then your mommy intuition is telling now is better. Write me an e-mail for our ped’s tips if you’d like them.
Taking care of both wasn’t that hard and she even looked more girlie-girl with earrings. They were so feminine on her. Good luck in putting your dd off, but don’t be suprised if she continues to bring the topic up. After all, there is nothing wrong with her wanting to look like her mommy 🙂 Unsure, hold up a pair of your studs to her ears in front of the mirror 🙂
