Rock the Lunchbox: School Lunch Ideas and Giveaway!

| Filed Under: Back to School, Bento, Bento Lunch, Recipes, Tutorials

My two oldest littles will be starting full day school in a few weeks (!!!) We are all so excited about school starting…new routines, new teachers, new classmates, new school supplies….there is just something so fun about a new school year, Yay!

Full day school means they will both be eating lunch at school. And for our family that means they will be bringing lunch. I know full well that it can be a challenge to make a nutritious lunch that also tastes good and isn’t the boring same old same old and that is why Honest Tea teamed up with Annie’s, Organic Valley, and Stonyfield (YoKids) to create a brand new site called “Rock the Lunchbox” to help all of us parents find inspiration and ideas of what to pack for school lunch.

I was asked to prepare a couple of lunchbox ideas…want to see them?!

If you have visited my blog at all in the past, you know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Bento lunches (see my Bento accessories post here) So my ideas for preparing lunches for my kids and yours are using the bento lunch idea of small portions of many different foods in fun containers. You don’t have to have a bento lunch container to make these either, if you see my post here you can get ideas of lots of other container on the market that get the job done!

The first lunch I made consists of some crunchy organic banana chips, a small portion of Annie’s Bunny Grahams and some Stonyfield YoKids yogurt in a silicone cupcake liner.

My kids love dipping the bunnies in the yogurt!

I also included some raisins in a silicone mini cupcake liner to separate them from some smoked almonds. This is a great sweet/salty taste match-up.

I packed it all up in a Tiered Bento Lunch Container and stored a flat spoon under the lid at the top.

For another lunch idea I used a small bento lunch container with a snap on lid.

PS. I love to buy my Bento goodies here.

Even though this is a smaller container you can still fit a nice amount of food in it for a younger child or this could be a snack for an older child too!

This lunch included what I like to call Pizza Picks which are small pepperoni minis between slices of Organic Valley Stringles mozzarella string cheese all lined up on a cute bento pick.

This lunch also included a silicon cupcake liner filled with Annie’s Bunny Grahams…

And fresh blueberries on fun bento picks!

Of course every meal needs a drink and we just love Organic Valley milk boxes (hello, they are shelf stable so they don’t need to be refrigerated!) and Honest Kids Organic Juice drinks…have you tried these juice pouches?  We buy ours at Costco in bulk, they are the perfect drink for when it’s our turn for soccer snack!
I hope you gained some fun yet nutritious ideas for school lunches.  My mind is always racing with ideas for what other fun things I can pack for my kids, I am such a lunch nerd!
And if you’d like to win a Retro Lunchbox filled with goodies from Honest Tea, Annie’s, Organic Valley, and Stonyfield you can enter the giveaway below or click here now!

If you look closely at the picture you will see that there is a plastic separator in the bottom of that container that separates the yogurt from the rest of the food, the separator is movable as well. So by using the separator as well as the lid does not lay flat but sits slightly inside the container equal a no mess yogurt! You can always check out my other Bento posts to see how these containers make lunches no fuss!
