Gluten Free Mozzarella Sticks

Leave a Comment | Filed Under: Noah & Oliver

Crispy on the outside, cheese pull on the inside, and gluten free. Bread and freeze the cheese sticks ahead of time, then a quick bake gets you that golden coating without any deep frying.

These are gluten free thanks to the gluten free flour and gluten free bread crumbs. Just double check your specific bread crumb brand, since some can be processed in a facility with gluten, and make sure your mozzarella sticks don’t have any added coating.

You can bake or air fry these, whichever you have on hand. We love our non-toxic air fryer and toaster oven from Our Place for stuff like this, it gets the coating nice and crispy without needing extra oil.

Three bowls do all the work here. Flour, egg, then a seasoned breadcrumb mix. Coat the cheese sticks, freeze them so they hold their shape, then straight into the oven.

Recipe type: Snack

Prep time: 15 mins (plus 2 hour freeze)

Cook time: 8 mins

Total time: about 2 hours 25 mins

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup gluten free flour
  • 1/2 cup gluten free bread crumbs
  • 1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 4 mozzarella cheese sticks

Instructions

  1. Set up three bowls: one with the gluten free flour, one with the egg (beaten), and one with the bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  2. Coat each cheese stick in the flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumb mixture.
  3. Freeze for 2 hours.
  4. Bake or air fry at 425 for 4 minutes on each side.

Note: best eaten within 10 minutes of baking for that gooey cheese pull and the best taste. They firm up fast once they cool.

Thanks for stopping by! If you make these – tag us. We’d love to see them.
